Your Alcoholic Beverage Choice and Famous People's if you know any

I’ve been mostly a beer lover since high school days. I still love beer (Beck,s or the likes) but as beer messes with my stomach so much I’ve been switching over to hard drinks: either whisky shooters or martini (I’m not much into fufu drinks  except for trying them out as I have an occasional side job checking out food & drinks of different restaurants).

I like wine but they are harsh on my GERD. I do remember enjoying Pimm’s drinks at one point but most places do not stock Pimm’s.

What are your preferred drinks?

I drank with Billy Martin so I know he drank Gimlet shooters. As I was watching Amy Winehouse drinking while singing on TV today, I wondered (don’t know why) what she was drinking.

If you know what are some famous people’s prefered drinks, share with us?

Ciroc

I’m not famous, but my go-to drink is a Bloody Mary. Other than that, I like strawberry Piña Coladas and Mudslides. Pretty much anything that tastes like a malt will be a hit too. I’m nothing if not in touch with my inner fou-fou girlie drunk.

My favorite is a dry martini with three queen olives. Two for me, one for my wife (who has no taste for martinis, but a deep affinity for a gin-pickled olive). Dry, but not silly. The vermouth has to be present. Something like six to one, gin to vermouth. Stirred and strained, of course. Beefeater is my go-to, Hendricks or North Shore if I’m feeling a little more top-shelf.

That said, I haven’t had one in months. Mostly been sampling craft beers lately, ever since a new grocery store opened with an excellent mix-your-six selection.

Bloody Mary is my favorite ‘hair of the dog’ drink, preferably with a nice big spear of polish dill pickle.

When Daniel Day Lewis was in (where I work) he had my drink of choice, a vodka gimlet straight up. Can’t remember what vodka, I’m thinking ketel one for some reason. Conan O’Brien drinks grey goose (with soda or tonic, can’t remember). Most of the other celebrities I’ve seen drink wine or martinis, nothing memorable from what I can remember…

My drink of choice, when I can afford it, is single malt scotch on the rocks. When I can’t afford that, i’ll settle for Canadian Club or Jim Beam rye.

Lemmy, of Motorhead fame, is notorious for his love of Jack Daniel’s habit, and claims to have been drinking a bottle of it a day since the '70s.

I don’t drink a lot of cocktails, but when I do lately, I’ve been doing Old Fashioneds. When made correctly (ie, don’t put any fookin’ SPRITE in my Old Fashioned), they’re divine.

Usually wine. I don’t have any preferred mixed drinks and rarely have them, though I lean toward Margaritas, appletinis, gin and tonic, and whiskey sours.

And big-name science fiction fan Wilson “Bob” Tucker always went with Beam’s Choice (Smooooooth).

Churchill was an avid brandy drinker, nice choice imo.

I know most about beer. Microbrews are my preference. I do like most types of alcohols though but I find that I’m pretty uneducated when it comes to them.

My favorite mixed drink would probably be a vodka based Dirty Martini. Hemingway’s was probably a Mojito.

A mojito is a drink I would very much like to try but have never had an opportunity to.

I just can’t get into brandy/cognac. The warmness of it is nice but it tastes like burning.

Scotch, bourbon and vodka I can drink fine but not brandy.

Lately, dirty vodka martini with anchovy-stuffed olives.

Yeah, I know it’s kind of gross. The liver wants what it wants.

Whenever it’s available when I go out, Newcastle Ale. On the rare occasions I go hard liquor, Jack Daniels & Diet Coke.

I’ve bartended quite a few celebrity events (long-time-ago thread here), so off the top of my head – and I thnk I’m forgetting a lot – these celebrities appeared very specific about their certain drink:

Diana Ross: Patron
David Spade: Makers Mark & 7
Macy Gray: Courvoisseur up

Others, maybe not quite as much:
Mira Sorvino: apple martini (could have been just for that party)
Harvey Keitel: Ketel One, chilled, up
Distin Hoffman: vodka tonic (didn’t specify brand)

My favourite is based on Avril Lavigne’s favourite – limoncello.

Why would you ruin a perfectly good single-malt by serving it that way? Ice kills the flavor of good scotch.

Bourbon with a splash or single-malt, neat.

My go to cocktail is an old fashioned, either rye or bourbon. In the summer, I tend to drink a wider variety of drinks.

I like beer. Heiniken or Yuengling Lager. Also like Tecate.
Bourbon mixed with 7-up or Mountain Dew for a mixed drink.
Rarely drink wine but when I do, I prefer a sweeter type. Had some homemade pear wine a while back that was really tasty.
