I’m a Stoly on the rocks guy. Charles Portis the author of True Grit, preferred single malts, martinis, and ice-cold Russian vodka.
I drink primarily good beer (as in, beer with actual flavor and character…microbrews and good European beers primarily), and I also like dry red wine quite a lot (Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, etc)
I don’t drink liquor very much. I can’t stand bourbon, and while I don’t mind a good rum or vodka mixed drink, I’d rather have beer or wine. About the only liquor I actually really enjoy is gin and tonic with a lime. I have that about 3-4 times a year. I have beer or wine with dinner most nights, though.
Cape Codders, hold the lime. No celebrity drinks that AFAIK
Me and Heinies don’t get along. - screws up my stomach, give me unpleasant hangover and I don’t like skunky beer. Beck’s or Stella etc… but I’m sucker for trying out beers I haven’t tried before. I liked Yuenglings; Good light beer. No wheat beers for moi. I like Sierra Nevada India pale ale. I thought I liked India Pale Ales but I realized, not really; they are okay once in a while.
BTW I occasionally have Rémy Martin Louis XIII cognac because one of my friend likes that stuff (or he likes to pass around rounds I should say…; I’d never pay for that stuff, no way). That stuff is rocket fuel and get you instantly lit.
I’ve been ordering Jack Daniel’s on the rocks quite a bit lately, mostly because of Kesha’s zeal for Jack.
Back in the day I saw Hunter Thompson speak at my school. Right before he came on a bottle of Civas Regal was set out with a glass and a bucket of ice. He talked until the bottle was done.
John Prine played at a theater my buddy worked at. A part of his contract, every night he got a carton of Marlboros and a fith of Jack Daniels.
Beer: Yuengling
Liquor: Patrón or a martini
I don’t know any celebrities.
Cider: West country for preference, 4-5%, light oak and natural fizz.
I like a cold heineken on a hot day after mowing the lawn, but I do like a bit more character in my beers. I like a few IPAs, but it seems like many of them are hop bombs.
I really like New Belgium’s Snow Day. It has hops up front with a malty finish. I’m having my first Brau Brothers Oatmeal Milk Stout right now, and kind of like it.
When I first became old enough to drink, I ordered J&B all the time because it was what Patrick Bateman drank in American Psycho, and Shelly “The Machine” Levene in Glengarry Glen Ross.
