Your body is a temple...so what kind of art do you have displayed?

Right shoulder: skull with bat wings. My first tattoo as a young “tough guy.” Grr! Grr!

Left pectoral: spider with skull for body. Second young tough guy tattoo. I was doing a Halloween motif.

Left arm, shoulder to elbow: half-sleeve scene of a tornado demolishing a trailer park. One of my best friends from college was learning to tattoo and needed practice doing large pieces.

Right arm, wrist to elbow: large dagger with the word “WORD” in banner across it. Same friend, while we were both living in Prague working in his tattoo studio.

Piercings: none at present. Formerly, a nostril piercing that I wore for about ten years and only took out the day I started my first job after law school, two tragus piercings from the same friend while in Prague, and an on-the-top frenum piercing that grew out, leaving a conversation starting scar.

One tattoo, a rose on my left ankle.
My ears are pierced - twice on the left and once on the right. Used to be three on the left and two on the right, but I let two grow shut.

I must have been in some trance or something. I’ll have to get some better pics up, this one just doesn’t do it justice.

Here you go

my tattoo

Have my right ear pierced 3 times and the left ear once, wear nonpierced clit jewelry and nipple jewelry.

I have two tattoos. My first one is on my left hip, quite literally on the side of my body- more towards my butt than my hipbone. It is a black line tatt of a celtic symbol called “The Meeting of The Four Winds.” It has been re-touched a few times, as black tends to fade. I guess it is about the same size as a floppy disk. It is important to me, because not only does it reflect my ancestry, but I also share it with someone who was once very important in my life.

The second tatt is a Brian Froud fairy from The Good Fairy/Bad Fairy Book. Specifically, this one. I have just the fairy herself- none of the background. There are swirly pastel colors behind the fairy in my tattoo. I plan on eventually putting some sort of starscape behind her, possibly with the constellations visible on my birthday. She’s on my middle and lower back- from my tailbone to about three inches below my shoulder blades. I got that tattoo just because I love the drawing.

Both were done by very close friends. They (and some other guys) have a shop in Buffalo, NY called Renaissance Studios. The guy who did the fairy is here and the guy who did the celtic one can be seen here. Not all images are safe for work.

The only piercings I have are three earrings in each ear. The foremost two in each lobe are stretched, but only to 12. I don’t plan on stretching them any more.

This is what World Eater is looking at in that picture.

Me, I’ve only got the one. That’s my right shoulder, not my knee. It’s the Cameron clan insignia, the Cameron’s being my mom’s family. Yes, it’s just a clever way of getting an “I <heart> Mom” tattoo. The words translate as “Unity.” I want to get another one that’s symbolic of my dad. I’m thinking a line of interlocked gears (my dad’s an engineer) around my left calf, but I haven’t found a specific design I like, yet.

Hope to hell that link works. I have the worst luck linking to pictures on-line.

Oh, and no piercings as of yet, but lately I’ve had the strange urge to get my nipples pierced. Don’t know why, really, as I’m pretty much the only one who ever looks at my nipples…

I like that. What does it mean?

Btw I think it was the frog. :stuck_out_tongue:

My left ear is pierced once and my right ear twice. That’s all to date.

I have four small tattoos: ivy around my left ankle, butterfly on my right hip, round Celtic design on the small of my back, and a flower near my left shoulder blade.

As for piercings, my ears are double-pierced, and I have a navel ring.

I have the Chinese character for “change” on my right hip, in black. I don’t really like it now, I’d like to cover it up with something else, but I can’t find any designs I like that utilize a lot of black. I’d really like to get a tattoo based on the three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch (from the book of the same name by Philip K. Dick), but I can’t draw well enough to design one. (Hey, any tattoo artists/PKD fans want to design one for me?) I’d probably get that one between my shoulderblades, in pink and black.

Both my earlobes are pierced three times, but I rarely wear jewelry in them. I should put some in, so they don’t close up. They’re not stretched or anything. I used to have an earring in my cartilage, but it wound up getting infected after a week so I had to take it out. I don’t think I want any more piercings.

I am very impressed…these are all some great tattoos. The banner with “WORD” cracked me up.

I’m feeling very dull & unadorned – I don’t have anything. I don’t want to be pierced, but tatoos tempt me. Can tatoos be done in bright, clear colors?

Well, this is good timing. I’m getting my second tattoo tomorrow afternoon.

My first is a small (about 1-1/2" sq.) black outline, bit of brown shading bunny - right above my left wrist.

Tomorrow, I’m getting a larger one, probably covering my left inner forearm. It will have color. Probably something viney with flowers. I found a picture I like from a latch hook design of all things - but, it’s very small. I’m going to ask the artist to expand on it and then I’ll decide.

I have one piercing in each ear lobe. I used to have my right cartilage pierced but I took the hoop out for about an hour and it closed up. It took me 6 tries and about 15 years to get my lobes to stop closing every time I took the earrings out. With my history, I don’t see the point of piercing anything else.

I’m getting my new tattoo at a party tomorrow. I’ll probably be getting a third in the next few months because I’m going to host my own party so I’ll get a free one.

I have a running wolf in bright blue outline across my lower back. It’s about 6" wide. Inside the wolf is a medicine wheel and “wolf” printed in Cree syllabics (my background is Cree).

I have 3 holes in my right ear and 4 in the left, plus 1 in the left cartilege. As for tats, I’ve been threatening myself to get one since I was 18 (I’ll be 25 in a few months) but I haven’t yet done it. I keep thinking I’m really close to doing it and then I sort of forget about it for a while. I’m conflicted because I’m Jewish, but I don’t practice, so it shouldn’t be an issue. Also my parents find tattoos “disgusting” so I’d likely get it somewhere where it’s not obviously seen. But then what’s the point? If I ever get one I’d be getting it for me, which it should be anyway. And if I get one, I’ve thought about getting a hamsa. Oy, see what issues I have? ;j

I have my ears and belly button pierced. I would never get a tatoo because after a few years I would probably want to get rid of it.

I had a friend in the same boat.

My understanding is you’re not allowed to be buried with any marks on the body?

Supposedly, you’re not allowed to be buried in a Jewish cemetary. I think that MIGHT not hold true for Reform Jews, though.

I was born Jewish, and I’m getting my fourth tattoo next weekend. ::shrugs::

Yes, my body is a temple, but it’s one of those old ruined temples that’s crumbling down and is being constantly visited by people who don’t treat it with proper respect.

No tattoos here, and never really had the desire for any. No piercings, either. I wore an earring in my left ear for about a week when I was in college, but took it out because it made me look gay.

Okay, not really. I took it out because it made me look like a total dork who was already a few years too late for that whole fashion trend, and I was just desperately trying to catch up.
