Ooh–I’m loving the shoes, Jodi, I have a pair very similar also like the tunic (just not that color on me, please).
I like quiet, “conservative” aka classic clothes. A navy blazer (am I the last person on earth to call them blazers?) khakis, topsiders or flat sneaks and a white Tshirt are some of my favorite clothes. I don’t have a digital camera, so I’m stuck here.
I also like straight leg (classic levi button down) or boot cut jeans/capris with some art nouvea-ish* T shirts or tunic tops or tuxedo blouse.
I love turtleneck sweaters in fall and winter, usually with jeans (you must realize I wear pajamas aka scrubs to work) or corduroys. If I am dressing up a bit, it’s tweed slacks/jacket/mock turtleneck type stuff. Warm colors–I stay away from pink, mauve, purples and stick with earth colors or blues, no turquoise.
*I googled this, but it comes up with stuff that is not what I mean. The Tees are overdyed, with designs on them --I’d say Mucha inspired. They were very popular at Old Navy and Kohl’s in the past few years. They tend to have scoop necks, odd colors (muted and blended) and odd details: off center designs etc.
My goodness, what a good-looking crew we all are! HazelNutCoffee, I think you look completely adorable in that hat. It *is * reminiscent of a cloche. (1920’s-style deathr-- er, hat.) And it’s perfect on you.
Acid Lamp, I adore the vest. I love the whole outfit. In fact-- but alas, I fear you’re probably a bit too young for me.
Actually, everyone so far has some impressive taste. Particularly in shoes!
All I’ve got a picture of handy is the Jolly Roger on the back of one of my leather coats.
Picture it with a Ramones tank top, stretch velvet pants, and boots. Gabba Gabba Hey!!
Unfortunately I’m a black and white film junkie so this pic isn’t in color, but this dress (and more than that, the SHOES) are two of my favorite things in my wardrobe. Even though I’ve only worn them twice. (My life doesn’t call for a lot of cocktail parties.)
Pardon the showgirl pose–it’s a running thing with my girlfriends…
I think I’ve posted all these pics before but I’m a total attention whore so I’ll post again.
My overall shoe collection (about a year ago, slightoly different now) In the lower right corner, you can see a different version of the Cheetah flats susan_foster posted.
I don’t have any good pics of outfits but I try to find interesting variations on an overall conservative look: pencil skirts and button downs. On the weekends, skinny jeans and layered tanks and sweaters. Going out is a retro-ish dress (usually Stop Staring); here’s an old pic of my favorite dress (I’m the redhead). Always something that has a waist, I am soooooo glad the empire waistline trend is finally starting wane…
Hat’s getting a lot of mixed reviews here, I see. It’s funny because I’ve had people stop me in the street to compliment me on the hat. I suppose everyone else just averts their eyes and hurries past. (The red flower comes off, btw. I just attached it for the Christmas season.)
Acid Lamp, I love that outfit.
faithfool, I like both tops, even though I’d never wear the turtleneck. Turtlenecks emphasis everything about myself that I’d rather keep hidden.
AngryIrishLass, I like those shoes! Cute! Contrary, yours too.
NintyWt, your work outfit looks cool - I like the colors in the blouse. Your casual outfit looks like something my mom would wear. Especially the shoes!
Hockey Monkey, those shoes . . . they were NOT what I was expecting, especially after seeing those tops! Please don’t tell me you’re going to wear those shoes with those tops.
Ok, I’ll bite, since my wardrobe is pretty diverse. I don’t have pictures of my shoes, though…maybe later?
Twodresses I made from the same pattern. I think you can kind of see my strappy retro heels in the second picture.
A mermaid-style dress I wore to my husband’s Christmas party, 2006. I made the little capelet. Fairly typical day-to-day outfit. Another fairly typical outfit for me. The plaid flats were some of my faves, but with both me and my daughter wearing them, they got retired recently.
And, just for fun (and because you can kind of see the shoes) me in my favourite sari. To forestall the questions – yes, I do wear the sari pretty regularly. I have 3 of them now, and I love them.
I’d have kept those anyway and displayed them a little glass case. Those are art. I have a pair of red patent leather Charles David pumps I feel the same way about. I hardly ever wear the damned things, because they hurt like hell and I have very little occasion to wear red patent pumps, but lord they’re beautiful.
I love me some coats. My favorite is a long (just past the knee length) version of this coat, in the grey.
I also love this one, which I have in both the lilac and green. (Just to clarify, the green coat I have is the same style as the lilac one, but that second link shows both the color, and the lining, which was a huge selling point.)
which is a typical look for me at work. With dockers and loafers.
(I love the Coldwater Creek look, but don’t like the value (low quality for the price). I like the Chico’s look but usually won’t spend $150 on a jacket. Christopher and Banks is the compromise.)
I love DianaG’s coats. I wouldn’t buy green, but I’m boring.
I am eternally grateful for marrying a not so tall man and for being able in my work to wear athletic shoes, since I hate heels. You all are welcome to them, and yes, many of them are purty, but better you than me…
I love the pretty, sparkly dress of Jennyrosity.
Haze: that dress should be licensed! you look fabulous in it.
Litoris:The fairly typical outfit #1 is something I would wear. The FTO #2 is not (not now–I’m too old). But I love the plaid flats, and I am blown away by your seamstress ability! The mandarin collar dresses are gorgeous!
Hockey: the ebay link does stay stable for me. I get switched almost immediately to several offerings from Lane Bryant (?).
I will try to dig around and find some pics I can scan. So far, I don’t see much that makes me cringe-we have good taste! (of course we do–we’re Dopers).
