Can someone help me place this quote? I’ve googled all the variations I can think of, including cutting out the middle, but I keep turning up either no hits or over 700, nothing in between.
My gut instinct says it’s from a console videogame, but that’s been wrong before. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
If this doesn’t get a reply in a few days, I intend on e-mailing a moderator to see I can repost it in Cafe Society/it could be moved. If it IS a game, it’s more likely to get a reply there, but this has a factual answer, so here it begins…
The one in the title was the fourth or fifth spelling I tried. First, I tried it your way, but it suggested immenent, cutting it into two quotes suggestested immanent, so on an so forth… I just copied and pasted the last suggested spelling.
Curious animal did not know for sure stringy story was better in light space. It is squishy if curious animals ask questions in serious playground when they are expecting heavy joke. Maybe it was not spicy games for answer! So it is happy when curious animal ask question. Happy campers do not need to move stringy story to light space. But it is best not to asking silly games in serious playground too much. Otherwise it is frumple and happy campers must dancing to dissolve the curious animals!
It doesn’t look like anyone has said this yet, but the game being referred to is Star Control II. Star Control II probably has some of the best gameplay in the history of computer gaming, with a richly detailed plot that is very difficult to solve, and a great sense of humor throughout.
The Kohr-Ah are a race of evil gray worms with a lot of eyes that have taken over, along with their green cousins the Ur-Quan, the human race and many other civilizations. Iacob_Matthew’s quote is spoken by the Kohr-Ah near the end of the game. Spoiler, since AFAIK the game is still out there and being played:
The Sa-Matra is a giant, powerful starship that the player has to destroy at the end of the game.
As for what I said, it’s a reference to another alien species in the game, the Orz. When you meet the Orz, the starship’s translation computer can’t handle their language and you end up with a lot of ‘lingual best-fits’ between pairs of asterixes. Some of the words-in-asterixes in my earlier post are real Orz-speak from the game (playground, spicy games, happy campers, dancing, frumple). Others are just Orz-style.

Maybe the quote wasn’t from a video game. So it was OK to post here. The mods do not need to move the thread to Cafe Society, but you shouldn’t post things in the wrong forum too much. Otherwise, it is frumple and the mods will ban you.
(It’s not meant to be junior-mod, it’s meant to be a post in Orz-speak. I probably gained the ability to do that while speaking in Orz-speak for a period of time in my adolescence.) As for what frumple means:
Best game ever made. I still play it on occasion, just to revel in its greatness. The theme music for the Kzer-Za is so good, I find myself humming it at random times.
