Really old school diabetic - 1800 cal max in a day, low carb[under 100g a day], less fat than Atkins, absolutely the minimum interference in my food by factories - we tend to buy meat, fish, veggies, legumes and grains. I tend to make our bread from King Arthur Flour’s artisanal bread flour, and if I want something other than fruit for dessert we make it at home.
I think we average about 1 meal out a month - on road trips we buy the stuff to make lunches and dinners with, and almost all the time I have oatmeal for breakfast. Splenda is my sweetener of choice unless it needs some form of sugar as a texturizer.
And despite all this cooking, I would actually voluntarily spend a month on Soylent, if I could play around with flavors and colors too
Gotta have wine before you can get vinegar. Wine only dates back to the Neolithic at the very earliest. You could have vinegar with a “Neo diet” or “Bronze diet.”
I didn’t put “I’ll eat whatever’s on my plate” just because I’m a picky eater and usually count calories, but I don’t really have an organized diet beyond that. Don’t eat as many veggies as people tell me I should.
I mainly have egg whites, fish, chicken, broccoli and diet soda. the other 5-7% is whatever.
I have found the more complicated my diet the more weight I seem to gain. For me, simple is better.
I eat whatever I can afford. Mostly pasta, rice, or potatoes with whatever I can get cheap thrown in. Last night I made ramen with steamed broccoli and barely cooked egg. Tonight I had chopped roasted potatoes with rosemary, garlic and about a third of a smoked sausage tossed in.Tomorrow is egg noodles with a package of creamed spinach mixed in and a little mozzarella melted on top.
But then I make a big batch of microwave fudge and eat that too.
Ah, I see. I don’t know anyone who takes “Paleo” so literally, but I’m sure they’re out there. Most interpret Primal/paleo as no processed foods or grains, and keeping the diet focused on meat (ideally naturally-fed) and vegetables.
I selected another special diet not mentioned although… I really would eat anything on my plate but in general I do the No-S Diet (no snacks, no sweets, no seconds during the week, whatever you want without being an idiot on the weekends). Since I’m a short round kind of person, I found that I can only lose about a pound every three months on No-S so I also do what I call “part-time vegetarian”. During the week, I eat at least two meals vegetarian every day. Really helped me bump up my weight loss and since I love vegetables, it’s no hardship.
Like all members of my species, I am capable of eating anything I can arm-wrestle down my throat and rather prefer dishes that don’t struggle too much, since even a half-cooked mouse can usually beat me two falls out of three.
