Never heard that definition before. The only definitions I know is that vegetables are any edible plant parts, or that they’re edible plant parts which would be eaten as part of a main course. Is there any point to a definition that says they’re anything but fruits, other than to confuse people about tomatoes, squash, beans, eggplants, cucumbers, and the like?
Very hard poll.
I went with vegetables. Even though I can’t live without pasta, cheese and ice cream.
Never been a big veggie fan. I don’t hate them, but even fresh and well-prepared, no vegetable has ever risen above ‘meh’ level for me.
spark240 has a good point about vegetable matter mimicing other food groups. Still, I think I’ll stick with my first choice.
Doughnuts are a food group, right?
I answered dairy because milk is what I drink with doughnuts.
After that, I could give up almost anything but cheese…
Some people assign a… spiritual value to the distinction I mentioned in the relationship between plant and human. Otherwise, no, there’s probably not much point to any distinction between “fruits” and “vegetables.”
