I could say something really dirty about ‘pulling the pork’.
I answered Sloppy Joe, assuming that’s what the OP meant. They’re normally made with pastrami or corned beef. And they’re waaay better than reubens. I prefer the pastrami version. I wonder how many of people who answered “sloppy joe” were referring to the high school cafeteria ground beef version.
At least 1 - I like them (made with good hamburger)
I’d imagine that the majority of people everywhere think of that as a Sloppy Joe.
I voted thusly:
Reuben
Italian sub (must contain capicola, oil, and ground pepper)
Sausage sandwich. I’m talking about a “Bob Evans” sandwich-- sausage patty on a hamburger bun with ketchup and thinly sliced onion. Mandatory at Ohio County fairs.
I like pretty much every sandwich in your poll, but sandwich perfection is achieved with a homegrown tomato, Duke’s mayo, salt and pepper on white bread.
After googling it, I think you’re right. Many delis actually call my version a “Deli Sloppy Joe”, probably due to prior customers getting something very different than expected.
But… no meat?
Frankly I find it odd that people would actually go out somewhere and order a Sloppy Joe period. To me it’s something that you got either at an elementary school cafeteria or you make it at home. For your kids.
Crazy coincidence, but just this morning I was walking past a restaurant near my office called “Schnippers”, which has a Sloppy Joe on the menu…the high school cafeteria kind, presumably, based on the varieties served:
