My favorite song at the moment is “More Than Words” by Extreme. It has been my fave for quite some time, but, on Tuesday, the guy I like played it on his guitar for me just out of the blue. He claimed to not know that I like it, but I’m not sure about that. It was amazing. Last night I listened to it before I fell asleep at least 10 times. What a sweet song.
Extreme? Extreme?! And you call me sad? HA! And while I’m at it, let me add “Your Disease” by Saliva. I usually scoff at rap/rock (Rage and Beasties excepted) but this song totally rocks.
Does anyone know who sings a song that goes " I’m so full of love, I’m so full of hate."? The radio spot places that much of it, and it sounds interesting…
I don’t know who does it but the maniacs at the local radio station play this song called “Prison Bitch” fairly often. The song makes me laugh my ass off.
“Follow Me” by Uncle Kracker gets a lot of play here because it helps the baby fall asleep, she doesn’t even mind if I sing it.
I love Drops of Jupiter by Train. Not sure if it’s out where you guys are, cos I live halfway across the globe in some place most wouldn’t have heard of.
Okay, before anyone kills me…I love Tom Lehrer, Dvorak and Pink Floyd. I am almost 31 years old and I do not watch MTV, MTV2…I couldn’t care less about trends, okay? Well, that’s not true or I woulodn’t be so DEFENSIVE. But…it’s just as bad to NOT like a song JUST because it’s trendy as it is to ONLY like a song because it’s trendy.
Anyhow…it’s got a swell melodic line that’s right in my “bellow 'til the windows shatter” range, so I enjoy singing along with it. Also, I’m really sick of pussy breakup songs. This one, to me, gets the tone right. You know, “AIIIIEEEEE I fucked up oh SHIT how COULD I, I’m so STUPID…aiiiiiEEEEEE!!!”, the way one actually feels after a breakup. Not this, “Ooo, I miss you, gee whillikers, I think I’ll get over you some day, but not yet, la la la” horseshit.
Well for a while now its been Cowboy Love by the Reverend Horton Heat, but having just read the Boa Constrictor thread, I’m getting nostalgic for some Dr Hook.
I really can’t think of any current song that I like. Sad, really.
“Shame” by Stabbing Westward. Or Alien Ant Farm’s cover of “Smooth Criminal.” Or Better Than Ezra’s “In the Blood.” Or that song that Tricky and Ed what’s his name (the lead singer of Live) do together.
“As High As You Can Go” by the Chameleons. It’s not actually my overall favorite song of theirs (that’d be “In Shreds” but for some reason I’ve been playing it over and over again the past few days.
Obviously, I have been watching far too much MTV of late…That would be Boy Hits Car. The name of the song is “I’m a Cloud.” I don’t know anything about them; I just saw the video last night and thought, “Those lyrics sound familiar. Didn’t someone ask about these folks yesterday?” So I made a point to see who it was.
The title is “Rexall,” after the drug store in which his parents first met.
For me it would probably be “Wait” by 7M3 (seeing them in concert tonight) or “Anarchy in the UK” by the Sex Pistols (I heard this a few times last week and now I’m hooked).
Yes. Extreme. I realize that they are absolutely a crappy band, but I LOVE “More Than Words.” “Your Disease,” however, make me want to blow chunks every time I hear it. I really don’t think we’d get along if we met, JBirdman12.
“Hindi Sad Diamonds” from Moulin Rouge. Have no idea what’s being sung apart from “I only speak the truth!” and Nicole’s broken/spoken word version of “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend,” but the music rocks hard. I wish I could get a whole album of this kind of Industrial Indian music.
When I’m in a Gene Kelly mood, I pop up Don Fagen’s version of “Walk Between the Raindrops” from “The Nightfly.”
Which brings me to Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice,” featuring a dancing Christopher Walken. Bizarre.
No radio songs, however. Don’t have the time to listen.
