“The Intro and the Outro” by the Bonzo Dog Band
I will ditto “Nightswimming” by R.E.M. and “Tell Her This” by Del Amitri.
My additions:[ul][]“Around the Bend” - Pearl Jam[]“Moonlight Mile” - The Rolling Stones“Tear-stained Eye” - Son Volt[/ul]
Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots.
SirSexxy, I like your taste in music. Gunners circa the Illusion albums… now that was music! And RHCP’s Blood Sugar Sex Magic album was their best, IMHO.
2001’s music sucks. 1991/92 had the best music ever.
How did I get so old so fast?
there are so many…
but some are :
If it be your will (LC)
Suzanne (LC)
I’ll shoot the moon (Tom Waits)
Into my arms (Nick Cave)
mmmmm…
Respectfully
The Unbeliever
I ditto **Badly Drawn Boy - The Shinning **. I have been listening to it all weekend.
Modern Lovers: [eponymous, 1976]. Played this for a small group of friends once… led off with “Roadrunner,” because that’s a relatively accessible track… Well, everyone hated it – absolutely couldn’t stand the band. Never got around to any other tracks. [Imagine if I’d started with “Pablo Picasso” or “Hospital” – they might’ve staged a mutiny!]
Rumpus Room Honeymoon by Steve Lucky and The Rhumba Bums.
Actually, Verrain knows the song.
Woo-hoo! Someone else likes them besides me! As some of my friends might say, “Go you!”
getting really obscure here…
Baby Turns Blue-Virgin Prunes
Caruso-Gavin Friday
Hallelujah-Leonard Cohen
Loom of the Land-Nick Cave (a somewhat obscure song even for Nick Cave fans)
Black Wings-Tom Waits
Abstract Plane-Frank Black
God bless all you people with musical tastes like mine. viva!
make the dirt stick - chris whitley
your ghost - kristen hersh
None of my friends even know who Peter Murphy is. So If I talk about him they tend to say “WTF?”.
Fade Into You - Mazzy Star
Over My Head - Fleetwood Mac
San Andreas Fault - Natalie Merchant
“In the Blood” -Better Than Ezra
Second “Fade Into You” -Mazzy Star
“Get Blown Away” by Ocean Colour Scene.
Just Lovely.

Hallelujah-Leonard Cohen

First heard this song in Shrek - almost bought the soundtrack just for it, but I heard (I think on this board) that it’s not the same version as in the movie.
In the same vein -
Joan of Arc - Jennifer Warnes
(love Cohen’s songs- but am not over-fond of his voice)
Now That I Don’t Have You - Jill Sobule.
Fa Fa - Guster
Slight hijack here…
Politzania, you can get the version of “Hallelujah” found in Shrek off of the Leonard Cohen tribute album I’m Your Fan. Very good tribute album, which is a real rarity anymore. John Cale is the one performing the version of Hallelujah that you are familiar with.
Anytime I mentiona Frank Zappa song, nobody knows who he is.

**Isn’t that Peter Murphy’s best known song? I know it’s the first track on my wife’s greatest hits collection of his, and the only one I recognized.
‘Snake Dance’ by Monster Magnet. Or ‘Kill the King’ by Masters of Reality. **

“Seven Veils” is a pretty popular one of his, as is “Indigo Eyes”. But “Cut’s You Up” is probably my favorite one to spin or dance to myself. It’s on the list of Industrial/Goth hit faves:
“Cities In Dust” Siouxie
“Fascination Street” The Cure
“Headhunter” Front 242
“Cuts You Up” Peter Murphy
“Addiction” Skinny Puppy
“Big Hollow Man” Danielle Dax
“Sex On Wheels” Thrill Kill Cult
“Obsession” or “Sweet Dreams” (The remixes) The Eurythmics
“Everyday Is Halloween” Ministry
“Kill All Hippies” Snake River Sonspiracy
“Bela Lugosi Is Dead” by Bauhaus is still a favorite but will not be played on any night other than Halloween because everyone remembers it as a great song but no one wants to dance to it.
“16 Horses” by Soul Coughing
“Moments In Love” by Art of Noise
“The Beautiful Ones” by Prince
“All Wrong” by God Lives Underwater
“Sunday Afternoon In The Park / One Foot Out The Door” by Van Halen
“Just Like U Said It Would B” by Sinead O’Connor

**Peter Murphy “Cuts You Up” **
It’s “Marlene Dietrich’s Favourite Poem” by Peter Murphy for me. I’ve loved this song for over 10 years now. No one ever knows who the heck it is when I play it.
It’s such a sad and beautiful song.
