Your favorite. . .(the suspense is killing you isn't it?)

Someone has probably already done this but, what’s your favorite song that when you mention it people are like, “What the hell are you talking about?”

Mine would be Black Balloon by the Goo Goo Dolls. It’s beautiful(wipes tear from eye). sniff

“Goofy’s Concern” by The Butthole Surfers

Baby Can I Hold You by Tracy Chapman. Go listen to it. (No one ever knows it)

Zette

I know that song, Zette. I still have my copy of the cassette tape (yes, the cassette tape. It’s soooo retro now, I know.)

And you can say, baby.
Baby can I hold you tonight.
Maybe if I told you the right words
Ooh, at the right time,
You’d be mine.

Peter Murphy “Cuts You Up”

Badly Drawn Boy* “The Shining”* and

The Tragically Hip* “Emperor Penguin”*

Phish - “You Enjoy Myself”

Rat Trap - The Boomtown Rats

“Tell Her This” by Del Amitri.

Zette, Scribble … maybe I’m just an overly-sensitive guy, but that song reminds me of her and it makes me cry. But anyway …

Maxx - that’s a great song!

I would have to say either “Coma” or “Dead Horse” by Guns N’ Roses, or “Nightswimming” by R.E.M. (that was for you, Gabe, cuz I know you’re a HUGE R.E.M. fan ;))

-Syko

Stereolab Lo Boob Oscillator: Beautiful song, embarassing title.

The last beat of my heart - by Siouxsie and the Banshees

Her voice is just incredible, especially on the live versions I have heard!

“Nightswimming” is one of my most favorite REM songs. Zette’s Tracy Chapman song is excellent too.

I don’t think I have ever had a conversation along these lines, so I don’t really have anything to contribute.

I’ll second Badly Drawn Boy’s The Shining. On the weekend, I had this song playing in my parked car with the doors open; friends overheard and were quite “what the hell is that?”. But it’s beautiful :).

Another one: Air La Femme D’Argent.

Isn’t that Peter Murphy’s best known song? I know it’s the first track on my wife’s greatest hits collection of his, and the only one I recognized.

‘Snake Dance’ by Monster Magnet. Or ‘Kill the King’ by Masters of Reality.

Push The Lil’ Daises by Ween

Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls.

out of body experience by sasha and john digweed

‘Hero in me’ by Jeffery Gaines. Always brings tears to my eyes.

I could fill a few pages with my candidates for this. Here are a few:

“Electric Sailor” by Kak
