Your first celebrity crush . . . then and now

I think there has been some photo shopping and/or tremendous make up or plastic surgery.

She was a train wreck not too long ago, I believe she was an addict and very overweight. Maybe she’s cleaned herself up, but here’s a photo of her pretty close to what I remember. Marcia

I think she was on one of those celebrity detox shows when I first saw her after her marcia days. Quite sad.

She’s lost a lot of weight. Even on that webpage you linked to there are newer photos of her where she looks like her old self again.

Earliest celebrity crush I can remember was on Tanya Roberts after I saw The Beastmaster. Here’s a promo photo of Tanya rockin’ it pre-history style.

I’d say she’s still got something goin’ on

Between The Beastmaster, A View To A Kill, and Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, I think Tanya Roberts made me hit puberty prematurely.

Davy Jones. Sigh.

Deanna Troi, ST TNG

Saw her at the Bolshoi debut in LA in the '90s rocking a little black dress.

Memories…

I’ll be in my bunk.

My first crush was on Bobby Sherman, too, so as he’s been mentioned, I’ll go with a couple others.

I thought Clint Eastwood was good looking when I was little

and still do

I also liked a lot of British actors when I was a kid back in the '70s; none of my friends ever knew whom I was talking about!

I wanted to marry Michael York when I was about 8; who remembers when he was the top billed actor in movies!

Derek Jacobi is one of the reasons I knew a heck of a lot of quotes from Hamlet when I was around 11 or 12 and got seriously into learning Latin (and I suspect I’m the only person who bought his ‘Doctor Who’ figure).

Of course they’ve become much better known, but back before internet and cable and satellite TV, it was a challenge to find things with Simon Ward, Simon MacCorkindale, and even not so long ago my later crushes Peter Capaldi* and Richard E Grant in. Huzzah for internet and multi-region DVD players!

*I’d only ever seen him in his early stuff in independent films at the start of his career, and my partner’d only seen him in ‘Thick of It’ – I was shocked to hear the sweet Scotsman from Local Hero blistering the air with naughty language, and the mister kept expecting the bekilted hero in Lair of the White Worm to save the day through creative use of invective. (Not that I don’t think he wasn’t brilliant in Thick of It!)

David Yost, as Billy the blue ranger from Power Rangers. (I was 6, okay?)

More recently. Not too shabby.

I was in grade school when I first saw Dr Kildare, and I fell in love for the very first time in my life!

Today, at 78, he still looks like heartthrob material, even though he’s aged.

And yes, I do know he’s gay, but that doesn’t matter to the crush of a little girl!

Am I the only one who is getting a lot of “image hosted by Tripod” and “referral denied” and “forbidden” errors?

Nope. I am too. I had to check my post to make sure the links actually worked before I posted it.

Lauren Tewes.

Then.

Now.

To be fair, it’s been a few decades…

I was never able to understand how Sheena managed to get a PG rating. Not, as someone who was 15 and already crushing on Tanya when it came out, that I was complaining.

On a totally unrelated note, did you know that Betamax had much better pause and slow-motion features than VHS?

The very FIRST guy I had a huge crush on was Flint McCullough, from Wagon Train.

Robert Horton then. Ah, that roguish grin…

He’s 87 now, so looks about like you’d expect.

Next up was David McCallum. When I watch NCIS, I’m still happy that I picked a man with staying power! He looks awesome.

Also Leonard Nimoy. IOW, the usual suspects.

I don’t know if I first “discovered” her at the 1972 or 1976 Olympics, but I really liked Olga Korbut. Given that I was only four years old in the summer of 1972, I would think that I discovered her charms when I was a much more mature eight years old in '76. Besides, I remember other things from 1976, especially the Bicentennial stuff and the American Freedom Train, so I suspect I succumbed to her charms during the later Olympiad.

Still pretty darn cute today.

Kim Richards from Witch Mountain fame is also on my crush list, like some others here.

Also, Marie Osmond. Wow, is she good looking now. She was good looking back in the day, but after 6 kids or so, she’s a robobabe. I am guessing she had some work, but who cares? She looks great.

And a woman who I’ve had a healthy fantasy for even though she was much older than me (and still is) is Raquel Welch, who the last time I saw her was still someone I’d take a shot at, and she’s got to be in her late 60s or early 70s

I believe my very first was this fellow.

And now: whimper fans self

Mine was Dino Martin, of Dino Desi and Billy.

It didn’t turn out too well, he never had the good sense to fall in love with me. He married two other gorgeous women instead. [sub]of course, that was only because he never met me, but still…[/sub] :stuck_out_tongue:

Tragically, he died in a plane crash.

And you know, looking at photos now? I don’t even find him all that sexy.

What can I say? I was a kid.

When I was a little kid, it was Dominique Moceanu

Nadia Comaneci was mine (and she is the same age as me). Always have been driven out of my mind by lithe graceful brunettes-tho when I read in an article during the '76 Olympics that she had a doll , that kind of dampened my ardor a bit.
