Your first furniture in the MMP

Thank you! It does look like a dandy machine. I’m endlessly tempted, but never seem able to pull the trigger on one of these.

I’m not surprised. I know you are a voracious reader. I’m sorry – and do understand! – about how painful it is to let “old friends” go.

They would be the opener.

She’s most of the reason I still drag my sorry carcass in every day.

S.M. { *enthusiastically * } “HI!!!”

Shoe: “helllllloooo. I’m here.”

ETA: looks down, checks “yes wearing pants”

Please keep us posted…and link please.

The first furniture I bought was a king sized waterbed. What a mistake, sheets were super expensive. My next bed was a queen sized so I could use standard king sized sheets. I’ve always been cheap.

Tomorrow will be my post-surgery check up and stitches removal. I’m hoping for more PT, all I’m doing now is just dangling my arm and stretching it out straight a couple of times a day.

Once the stitches are out, I’ll be able to wear a bra again. That means I can start going to the capital again. I wouldn’t risk driving a manual, but I should be fine with my automatic.

I am so stinkin’ bored. Doggio, when did your roomie stop bitching about being bored or are they the sort of person who doesn’t need constant dopamine hits? My dopamine addiction didn’t come with screens, it came with stitching, perfect stitches are a little pleasure hit every time and I miss it sooooooo much.

BrightTree not all the meringues turn out as beautiful as those did. They are droopy more times than not, but still taste good. I always say, “do you want to look at it or eat it?” My belly ain’t ever cared what sump’n looked like, just that it tasted good.

52 I have from time to time considered one of those robots. You are makin’ me think maybe a little more seriously about it now. We have no pets or carpets, so the one you have may be just the one for da cave.

JtC gettin’ the stitches out is a giant step closer to bein’ healed. Hope you can start doin’ things you want soonest.

Evening all. Sitting watching the USA World Cup game (we’re behind 1-2). Rain never showed up and scale at the gym said I gained 3 lbs. the past week, so need to watch my consumption. AC is working OK for now, still baffled on what is going on. Hopefully I’ll get an answer tomorrow.

Enjoying all the furniture stories.

More tonight when I get back to my desktop.

I’m so sleepy! I even took a two hour nap earlier and I’m still ready to nod off. I think I’ll go to bed very soon.

My study. To the left are four more Billy bookcases, two with the additional shelf. To the right, facing the door, is another bookcase.

It’s beyootiful!! I love the light, and everything looks so cozy-yet-functional! And how you got the feline overlords to pose so well for the photo is awesome. Thanks for sharing it!

And yeah. Lotta books. It’s so hard to sort them out. But I can see how your lovely wife would want a bit more space for her wall art!

OK game (and Team USA’s participation in the World Cup) is over, so can address one more late night final. Have to get my spare stuff outside tomorrow for Purple Heart donation and then the HVAC folks will be here between 8-12 in the morning (so fo course it is working fine today…). Also will check the weather and consider mowage tomorrow, want to get that done before I leave Thorsday. Temperature is down to 76F so the AC isn’t even required to be that busy.

Now to scroll and respond.

Mollie, glad Fang took it well, I’m sure, being a young man, his emotions about it will seesaw some but eventually it will be all good.

shoe, all someone has to do to me is point at my shirt and say ‘spider’ and I’ll show you some swatting…

Ricepad (and I believe I will call you Paddy, even if your not Irish), happy, albeit belated, Anniversary.

Cookie, fascinating dolls, you might want to find some type of bag/protection for them from the moths.

Oopsie, happy Lego-ing.

52, thanks for the report and the suggestion.

FCM, T-boomers were predicted here, but were no-shows. Enjoy reclining.

Lily, I have 10 bookcases, all of them wood and 7ft high, and one of these days I’ll do a book purge…say, 10-12 years from now…I think visiting you would be a pleasure, based on the photograph…

JtC, looking forward to a positive report post-surgery.

And that’s all I wrote. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Long day today. The actually heaving part wasn’t bad, and while there a lot of left in building boxes, but that was less “we ran out of time” and more “we can’t fit 1200 cubic feet of packages into a 1000 cubic foot package car” I canna change the Laws of Physics, Captain - Scotty But lots of rewraps and damages. I was doing all the irreg ones, which there were a lot, so for the first time in 6 years the Senior Clerk left before me. I got out at noon after going in at 0245. I did a quick Aldi stop, $16, just milk and cheeses [The Big Lewbowski]Nobody fucks with the cheeses[/The Big Lewbowski], and Tar Jay, since my Brita filter cracked after 20 years of use. I got a brief nap, now I’m up, having an Old Fashioned, cheeseburger with sauteed onions, peppers, fries with Bojangles seasoning, and corn on the cob with Trader Joe’s “Everything But the Elote” seasoning.

First furnishing I ever bought(as opposed to the parents dumping the avocado green couch with non matching orange lamps and promptly moving out of state) was an L shaped table from Staples.

Please do not refrain in the future.

yes!

Roomie gets the dopamine off the screens.

I’ve had 4 hours non stop.

Thanks! I’m slowly sorting that stack of boxes on the left, which is mostly my writing, my teaching, and copies of professional articles I no longer need. The shelves, counterclockwise from the right of the photo, are fiction, fantasy & science fiction, Tolkien/Rowling/similar, Europe in the Middle Ages, psychology/health. Unpictured are the rest of psychology, art and metaphor, poetry and drama, writing and its teaching, my journal, and my publications. Natural history is behind the door.

Children’s lit in the guest room; biography in my lovely wife’s office; language and linguistics, mystery, and walking/pilgrimage in the hall; TBR, Tarot, and art/graphic novels and memoirs in the bedroom; cookbooks, big art books, travel, birds and animals, big culture books, and local writers in the living-dining room.

That would be fun!

Double post

I’d go “Oh noes!” for a while, but you strap those over the shoulder boulder holders (or get Hubs to do it for you!) as needed.

Learn a new language?

That way, you can cuss at Hubs in, Idunno, Mandarin?

You didn’t get cream for your White Russian?

lily, I’m envious! While I no longer have enough hard copy books to fill those shelves ( I pare down the number every time I move as I collect more on kindle), I would love that layout for my craft room.

The Senegalese peanut butter chicken for supper was delicious and easy, so it will go into the rotation. Chilling out before falling asleep now.

Sounds tasty!

Up, caffeinated, and off to heave. The storms have stopped. For now. It’s 74 degrees Ferret Height(23.333 Centipedes)
Also:

I got that and some rug cleaner last Thursday.

Good Toosday morning! It’s particularly good because the power just came back on about 15 minutes ago. We didn’t lose power when the big wind/thunderstorm came through on Friday evening except when the power flickered on and off a few times but did stay on. But yesterday afternoon around 2pm when the weather was totally calm and I was watching Wimbledon, all of a sudden everything stopped and it was totally quiet in the house. Hubs called the power company, DTE, to report then went for a walk several hours later and saw DTE was working but they’d only just begun and hadn’t trouble shooted what caused the outage. Later he received notice from DTE that the power likely wouldn’t be back on until around 11:30pm tonight. Glad they were off on that estimate.

When I graduated, Dad and I packed up my car the day after Christmas and drove to San Antonio. Took us 2 days. We stayed in a motel just on the NE outskirts when we arrived. The next day we went to an apartment locator company. The rep gave us information on 3 apartments that we went to see. The first was just a studio and Dad was all, yes, take this. Uh, NO, I’m not living in one room. The second was decent, very small but had a separate bedroom, a bathroom, living room, dining nook and kitchenette and Dad really liked that the address was similar to ours. Our address was 1824 streetname and the address of the second apartment was 2418 streetname. But I said we needed to see the 3rd choice. The driveway to the third apartment was a tad steep (we’re flatlanders) and it was not my esthetic AT ALL; it was done in all browns, hated looking at it. So, we went back to 2418 streetname and I signed a lease. We stayed in the apartment that night, sleeping on the floor. I started work the next day downtown in the Frost Bank Tower. After work, Dad picked me up and we went to a furniture rental store and I picked out furniture for the bedroom, living room and dinette. It was $40/month and as I recall it was month to month. After about 3, maybe 4 months I was tired of renting so bought a sleeper sofa then told the furniture rental company to come pick up the furniture, except for the dinette set that I bought from them for a pretty low price which I don’t remember. About a month or so later I bought a queen size bed. When I moved back to the Mitten almost 3 years later, the bed, the sleeper sofa and the dinette set all came with me. The sleeper sofa was finally retired 10 years ago. Still have the table from the dinette set but it was disassembled and is in the basement. I think we only have one of the chairs and it’s in the upstairs bathroom.

(Ask me what time it is and I’ll tell you how to build a clock)

Morning.

The forecast says it’s sunny but the clouds have apparently not bothered to check their timetable for the day, and are covering the sky still.

Am expecting another frustrating day of staring at stuff on the computer and hoping it makes sense.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 20c/68f with a predicted high of 26c/78f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Loitering fucking clouds”.

Sounds like it went well, I am really pleased for you as your family seem to be very accepting of everything.

Lily that is a beautiful room, it looks so inviting - but then again, any room with lots of books looks inviting to me.

Yesterday was uneventful after our journey home, vegged in the afternoon and heated up some leftover spagbol for dinner in the evening. I also collected up all the recycling stuff and put that out, then hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection.

The binmen came around 7am, so when I got up, I had to put proper clothes on and go out to haul the biiig bin back to where it lives. I’m working at home today, off to kettlebells tonight, and spending the rest of my time trying to stay cool as temperatures are starting to climb again. I am not liking these 30+ temps, it’s not natural!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 with possible rain mid to late afternoon. We got a nice tstorm between six and seven last night. Hopefully that will happen at some point today. It’s laundry day. My joy knows no bounds. Sup will be steak, baked N.O.T., sallit and cheesey garlic bread cause we are in the mood for ribeyes.

Lily what a nice room! The kittehs seem impressed with it as well.

Cat_Glove glad the power was not out for long as expected.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!
