Your first furniture in the MMP

The third episode of rain and boomers came thru last night as I was tableting in bed. It’s weird that when in my recliner, I start nodding off while playing my games, but once I head back to bed and tend to the pre-sleep routine (which includes scooping the cat box) I’m wide awake again, so the games come out for a while longer. Anyway, the storm was intense but shorter than the other 2.

We have a large branch on the oak right in front of the house that’s hanging by a wish - at least that’s how it looks from the ground. But despite several very intense and windy storms, it’s still just hanging. It’s too high for us to lop it off and it’s far enough from the house that it won’t hit the roof. We’ve already told Daughter and SIL not to park under it, just in case. If tree guys weren’t so $$$, I’d call one. We’ll just have to wait for it to give up.

Today starts wit 68 Ferrets, on the way to mid-80s and a chance of some rain. Once I’m done with my morning online routine, I’ll be back out there pulling weeds till I can’t stand it any longer. Around noon, FCD is going to help SIL clear the condensate line of their a/c, but I can’t offer any help, so I’ll stay home and paint the drawer unit he built for the boat.

Them’s all the plans so far. Busy day ahead, I guess. Happy Tuesday!

Morning all. Up early and have the donate stuff ready to go outside and am awaiting the whenever call from the HVAC folks (they said 8-12 in the AM). Need to perform mowage sometime today or tomorrrow and let my neighbors know I’ll be gone for 9-10 days, but will save the packing for Wednesday. Have broken fast with a big bowl of Rice Krispies so belly is happy. Not much else planned for the day.

I’m 2 miles from Kroger and 3 from Wal-Mart…that simply does not make sense to me, but then again, humanity is good at not making sense…

Lily, I try to keep my bookshelves organized, History on the one side and Science Fiction on the other, with everything else in-between. There has been some intermingling over the years, but I can usually find what I’m looking for.

doggio, I gain poundage every time I pass a Little Debbie display, they have so much stuff that is bad for me but I so much…

Cat Glove, glad they were able to get you powered up early. Haven’t done any apartment hunting in 30 years, but may have to in a couple more.

And onward into the day. Good 2sDay all.

Good morning, everyone. The US Soccer men’s team was soundly defeated by the Belgian team. I’ve tried for 25 minutes to say something about the controversy without being too political. NPR’s newswoman, facing the same task, somehow crammed “slippery slope” and “can of worms” into the same sentence. There’s a mental image for you, a can of worms on a slippery slope.

Our weather has cooled down a notch or two, down to a high of 85 Ferrets, mostly sunny.

lovely room!

i see wall art!

the new fish tank arrived yest. as i had it on the floor to unbox and organized, lager took the opportunity to flip the lid. le sigh.

tonight will be rinsing and water worthy test.

Good morning! My walking alarm thought I should get up at 4:30. I disagreed and gave myself another thirty minutes. Chloé and I saw four buns and a chipmunk. The sunrise was nice, too.

I went to meet Magnolia last night to talk about how their marriage survived their transition, and discovered I was a week early. I know how to read a calendar. I really do.

On the way there, I discovered that my car can drift. I have to drive on a lot of swervy country roads out here and I drive an Ioniq 6. I love it, but it’s so quiet that you can build up a lot of speed without noticing. I approached a curve too quickly and applied the paddle (regenerative) brake to slow down. The next thing I knew, my back end started coming around. Somehow, I kept a cool head, released the brake, and steered into it. I drifted perfectly around the curve, and I never want to do that again. I only wish I had worn my brown pants.

When we first moved here, we made a day trip down to the Ikea in Atlanta (It’s twenty minutes closer than the one in Memphis.), and we picked up five Billy bookcases with top extenders, which we installed in our front room. I then used what little woodworking skills I have and filled in the gaps between the walls and ceiling. Mrs Magill, with her superior painting skills, painted everything a uniform color, et viola - we had “built in” bookcases. Mrs Magill’s books are on one side, and mine are on the other. We also have a couple of shelves of cookbooks in the laundry room off the kitchen, I have a shelf full of gaming books in my office, and we have a couple of shelves of the boys’ books upstairs.

JtC - Mrs Magill could empathize with the boredom. The only saving grace about her leukemia chemo was that she didn’t have the energy to be bored. That was the only time I’d ever seen her sitting around.

Eww.

I first read that as “Sentinelese”, and was wondering how the hell anyone could have gotten a recipe off North Sentinel Island.

Knots - I’m kinda glad the US got knocked out. I’d rather get knocked out than have a win with an asterisk. I’ll save anything else for the Trump schadenfreude thread.

“Challenge accepted!” says Lager

On my walk, I saw a small dog, and a large rabbit. Surprisingly, the rabbit didn’t stop munching its dandelion and hop off.

Breakfast: Two slices of fried SPAM® and a slice of toast with a farm egg on it. The yolk broke when I cracked the egg, so alas, it was not over-easy. I put it on the toast and ate it out of hand.

Good morning.

It’s 56F and mostly sunny outside. The expected daytime high will come down to 80F, and it’ll be mostly sunny. We reached 86F yesterday, and by afternoon it was a little uncomfortable.

I have not really been paying attention to the World Cup, although I knew there was some controversy regarding Belgium and the US teams.

Lily, I love your study. And, yes, the yellow-jackets have got to go. They don’t like to peacefully coexist. I have my share of sting stories from those jerks.

Cat Glove, I’m glad your power was restored.

I spent yesterday transplanting the last of the plants that needed it. However, I now see I need to add some Japanese forest grass to that side of the garden, and will be heading down to the nursery soonish to get that done. I want to get it done before the kids get here and before my cataract surgery. I need the forest grass to add a sense of cohesiveness. I don’t know why I didn’t get any when I decided to work on that side of the garden. Oh, well.

Mollie, I’m glad the conversation with Fang went well.

When I said I was on my last pack of TP, I meant the last six-pack from the Costco pack. You know, those used to be bigger. It seems sad that even Costco has undergone shrinkflation.

Well, I suppose I should get going. Things to do, places to go. Please take care of yourselves.
