What songs do you like to listen to when you’re high on cannabis?
My list is mostly songs about cannabis/getting high, the one exception being a song that just has weird music and special FX that I like.
“Smoke Weed Everyday,” by Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre
“It’s 420 Somewhere” by Chief Greenbud
“You Get Me So High” by Doja Cat
“So High” by Rebelution
“Gooey” by Glass Animals (this is the song that isn’t about getting high)
What are some of yours?
I’m not a smoker but the whole Stoner Rock genre makes me feel groovy, check out the Stoned Meadow of Doom YouTube channel: Stoned Meadow Of Doom 2 - YouTube
I listen to a lot of music but when I’m just getting stoned by myself I do have a handful of songs that I always play, just for the first 15 or so minutes while the high is building. I pretty much never get tired of them either.
Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Sinister Minister
Primus - Shake Hands With Beef
Whitney - You’ve Got A Woman
Keith Jarrett with Jan Garbarek - Spiral Dance (I usually skip to the 5-minute mark.)
“Light Up” by Styx
“A Passage to Bangkok” by Rush
“Smokin’” by Boston
I don’t smoke weed; these are just songs about doing it.
“Too High For the Supermarket” from The Uninvited. No stoner playlist should be without it.
When I smoked, one of my faves was Wild Mountain Honey by Steve Miller.
My “Kite” mix consists of:
Donovan’s Troubadour collection
Alice Cooper Goes To Hell
Soundtrack to All This And WWII
Harry Nilsson’s Son Of Dracula soundtrack
Rick Emerson’s radio play Behind The Santa
Beatle’s Revolution #9
The Puppet Master theme
Weezer - Hash Pipe.
Phantogram - You Don’t Get Me High Anymore.
Sir Sly - High.
Cypress Hill - Hits From The Bong.
Dandy Warhols - I Am Over It.
There are more but these are the main ‘drug’ themed ones.
Back in my stoner days (a long, long, long time ago), one song on everybody’s playlist was Tom Paxton’s Talking Vietnam Pot Luck Blues
Well, I may be crazy, but I think not.
I’d swear to God that I smell pot.
But who’d have pot in Vietnam?
He said, “What do you think you’re sittin’ on?”
These funny little plants, thousands of them.
Good God Almighty… Pastures of Plenty!
Yes, Gentle Giant, Genesis, Happy The Man, all the prog stuff.
