Your Most anticipated games: March '17 edition

I don’t think we’ve done one of these in a while. It’s always a good way too learn about shiny new games not on my radar, or a reminder of good ones forgotten about but getting closer.

For me It’s Borderlands 3(or whatever they end up calling it). Still a looong ways off, but at least they are finally admitting they are working on it and showing tiny little pieces.

Two:

Phoenix Point: Looks like XCOM vs Stephen Kings’ *The Mist/*Elder Gods/Cthulhu

The Long Journey home: Space exploration/roguelike/RPG. Looks promising but still waiting for more feedback from people who have played the early versions.

Console gamer and these are exclusive to PS4 but anyway:

Gran Turismo Sport: 4K HDR racing, the trailers are unbelievable.

WipeOut Omega: 4K remaster of WipeOut HD with extra tracks from the last vita version.

Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 6: I’m just a fan of this quirky japanese free roaming brawler series so more please…

Comin’ out this month? None, really. It’s practically over.

Serious answer: Sonic Mania. It’s been 23 goddamn years coming.

Not this month, but supposedly in April, they are promising Dawn Of War III. I got over a 100 hour on the second one and its expansions, so I am pretty excited. A little concerned about them trying to ride the MOBA wave with it though, definitely gonna check the reviews when it comes out. I am hopeful though.

If expansions count I’m really looking forward to the Banks Patch and Utopia Expansion for Stellaris in a week.

For the long term I’m looking forward to the recently funded sequel to Pillars of Eternity, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. But that won’t be out for years.

There’s not even a vague release date yet, but I’m really looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077. With the growth of the Witcher series from intriguing-but-flawed to the best games I’ve ever played, CD Projekt Red has earned enough credit with me that I’m willing to pre-order whatever they offer.

Half Life 3

I feel like this will be on the March '18 and March '19 versions of this thread as well.

And even march 2119 :frowning:

Yep, sorry, let it go, it’s never going to happen:

Useless article featuring anonymous sources. We still don’t know.

You keep right on believing, but this is why it will never be released: (If valve was totally honest video)

Looking forward to the Stellaris expansion most, coming up in less than a week now, need to scratch my sci fi itch after the disappointment that has been Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Nothing else really super soon on the horizon. I WAS excited for Syberia 3… but it doesn’t look like a Syberia game to me, so we’ll see.

I know all I have is hope but im not ready to give up yet.

I think the game I’m most looking forward to is Path of Exile’s upcoming expansion, The Fall of Oriath. They’re changing the game structure so you don’t have to repeat the content any more. Instead of 4 repeating acts on 3 difficulties, there will be 10 acts, each unique, with the difficult set to build across the whole game. The new areas include a trip back to Oriath (the place from which you are exiled in Act 1). Then there will be a trip back through some of the original Acts, but they’ve changed to reflect your original actions in acts 1-4. So killing Dominus and the Beast and so on will be reflected in acts 6-8. Then there will be more new areas and monsters.

There’s also a new character building mechanic. The Gods of Oriath are looking to fill the power vaccuum so you battle them to keep them from taking over where the Beast left off, gradually acquiring their powers as you defeat them.

Path of Exile has been one of my favorites for years now. There are just so many smart and interesting choices in the game. Suddenly getting two more games worth of content is super exciting. Character building in this game has always been a challenge. Adding in the god-powers option is like getting a whole second ascendancy.

It should land sometime this summer. And of course, it’s still completely free to play (the game is financed via completely optional microtransactions of cosmetic items and inventory upgrades.) It’s available through Steam (with their friends list and overlays) or direct from the developer’s website. Everyone should take look. There’s just going to be so much to see.

Here’s the dev main site for the game:

Here’s the trailer for the new expansion, called The Fall of Oriath -

And here’s the Steam download -

Currently, PoE is running the Legacy Challenge league, kind of a Greatest Hits review, to send off the original game. They’re also running some Solo Self Found leagues. Legacy Leagues will run through May 29, at which point all the characters will get moved to Standard. The Fall of Oriath content will arrive mid-summer.

Curious newcomers should feel free to jump right in! Path of Exile encourages players to build new characters regularly for the league & race events. Everyone’s got dozens of characters, so don’t feel like you have to get it right the first and only time.

I can’t wait for Red Dead Redemption 2. The release of the game will ensure that I get a PS4.
