Your MOST favourite....

Easy! Sweet potatoes, simply prepared by peeling and cutting into 2" pieces. They go into a baking dish with just butter, salt and pepper. Cover with foil and bake until tender. Remove the foil for the last ten minutes for a little bit of toasty goodness. No sweetener needed and NO XXXXING MARSHMALLOWS. A few shelled pecans are kind of nice though.

YMF - Stuffing (seasoned bread based goodness cooked inside the holiday bird) or Dressing (same thing cooked in a baking dish)?

I like both, but I lean a bit more towards stuffing.

YMF childhood Thanksgiving memory?

Grandparents came over to our house for turkey dinner. Afterwards there was a Thanksgiving animated special on tv (something about a pilgrim mouse on the Mayflower) that I saw only that one time in my life (we had just purchased a second tv set! and dad could watch football in the other room). That evening, as a special treat my brother and I got to ride back with the grandparents and sleepover that night at their house.

YMF wine to be served with a turkey dinner?

Argentinian Malbec (J Opi is a good one) is my go-to on Thanksgiving, and there will be a nice dry Riesling for the white wine fans.

YMF way to use leftover turkey?

I forget what it’s called but imagine the filling from a good turkey pot pie (chunks of turkey and veggies in a rich gravy) - serve this glop over fresh biscuits.

YMF use for leftover Thanksgiving ham?

Don’t think I’ve ever had Thanksgiving ham, but sammiches is my go-to answer for leftover ham anyway. Either that, or chop it up and stir it through mac and cheese.

TNP is hungry right now.

Well, I just now had supper, so not hungry at the moment.

The Next Poster has been caught in an overcrowded grocery store the evening before Thanksgiving.

So I’d look for a small ham, which will likely be overlooked by those looking for big turkeys to feed a family. I have few family, and they live elsewhere, so I typically have a holiday meal by myself, and a small ham fits. Plus, I like it. Some potatoes and veg, and I’m a happy (and well-fed) guy.

Your favorite Thanksgiving dinner dessert?

Slightly non-traditional but I like a nice slice of bread pudding topped with a bananas foster sauce and maybe a scoop if ice cream.

YMF part of the Thanksgiving parade?

I rarely watch it, but my wife’s high-school marching band marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade long ago, so I’ll say the cutest flutist from that band on that day.

YMF relative to see at Thanksgiving?

He’s no longer with us, but when he was alive my grandfather would probably claim the ‘favorite relative’ title.

Most favorite time to serve Thanksgiving dinner?

Snacks and hors d’oeuvre go out before 10AM. Main meal usually hits the table before 1PM. Seconds and repeats continue until we can’t rise from lying on the floor. Every now and then a shaky hand will rise up and snatch a bite stuffing before vanishing back down. Sounds of gobbling, burping and collapsing organs soon follow. The someone says “Who want’s PIE?”

YMF non-potato vegetable on the Thanksgiving table?

Mushy lima beans drowning in butter, with a generous dash of salt.

YMF kind of pie?

Pecan, hands down. Way too sweet, but worth every diabetic coma.

YMF kind of quiche? (yeah it’s just an egg pie, but still…)

The kind that the waitperson doesn’t bring to me. I hate quiche.

Most favorite cocktail?

Gin and tonic. I’m really not a cocktail kind of person

YMF Saturday morning cartoon from back in the day?

George, George, George of the Jungle

YMF night time animated show?

At last check, The Simpsons. I have not followed it for years though.

Not including pie, YMF pumpkin recipe.

I had a pumpkin cheesecake once that was pretty good. Otherwise I can’t think of a pumpkin dish that I actually liked.

YMF recent dream.

The one where my ex-wife and I met up by accident, and she actually liked me.

Most favorite pet you’ve ever had?
