I’m starting to think one of my direct reports might be a legit whack job. :frowning: Oh well…at the very least, I’m learning how to provide support (letting them rant) and advice (“I suggest sticking to the facts”) without actually agreeing with them.

HEY! I may not live in the south, but I know what that means! :stuck_out_tongue:

Fauci was pretty optimistic, actually. I’m glad I watched.

Nice!

I went to a public school for kindergarten and 1st grade before switching to private school, and then spent part of 6th grade, all of 7th grade, and part of 8th grade in England, so my oldest friend is only from 8th grade (which was 37 years ago). Happily, I just saw her last month.

We went to Catholic School. About half of the people from elementary school went on to the same Catholic High School. The guy I finally have convinced to come was who I walked to high school with every day and was my constant partner in crime. We stopped at a local bar every morning to shoot pool and drink coffee. We ran the study hall poker game and took the football bets.

Depends on the situation. I previously invested in soaking boots, which are essentially heavy duty waterproof bags that have velcro straps you can tighten around the leg. A great investment as it turned out. They can’t be stepped out of, and are not easily dislodged. Also a warm Epsom salts soak feels pretty good on a sore foot. My horse, although not naturally endowed with a lot of patience, does listen to me and trust me. So I put on her boot, fill it with warm solution, and sit next to her and sing lullabies for fifteen minutes. Works pretty good.

swampy, and any other Southern Mumpers, I’ve been hearing about violent storms coming your way, is everything under control in you area?

shady, it is a Canon. I thought that it was a software issue, so I rebooted to no avail. Then, I began poking around and found a rubber end cap from a ribbon rack in the tray. Well, duh! Took it out and printed.

sari, I’m lucky with Nelson in that he’s pretty good about his bath. I just put him in the tub and sit on the commode to scrub him down.

I’m sorry about Mrs. LA’s cousin flyboy.

Like others have said, the laxatives were to be coupled with the pain pills wordy. Opioids can really put a cork in you.

baker, the real storm is slated to hit my locale later tonight. Right now, we merely have small dog warnings. :stuck_out_tongue:

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

missred, what do you do about the dog walking when the weather is crap?

My previous dog, Nathan, I trained to go on puppy pads. Of course I walked him at least twice a day, but if it was bitter cold, or there was lightening, I knew he could wait. Honestly, he never went off the pad more than a couple of times.

Happy Tuesday! I went to PT this morning. The therapist said I’m already doing most of the right stuff. Hopefully my sessions will include other exercises instead of just consisting of him watching me do what I’m already doing.

SO much to respond to:

VanGo, THANK YOU so much for your comments on wood staining. :hugs: I decided not to strip it to apply the wood conditioner stuff and to just make do. After all, it’s a table I got from the trash. It’s just not worth the bother.

Ulfreida, hope your horse heals soon.

Taters, your work situation reminds me why I’m glad I’m retired. Also why people keep hooch in their desk drawers. Hope things improve.

Pffft, she’s still a spring chicken! Here’s a woman who took up the trapeze at 78 and was still going strong, including climbing the ladder, at age 88.

I’ve done that for years. However, I find that with the IRS, when I return, I get mad all over again and think of more #@%$! to add when I sit back down. I’ll get them all out, though I’m sure they’ve read and heard worse.

Wheelz, you looked good. One of my all-time favorite people was an elderly neighbor when I was a kid. He’d fought in WWI before becoming a railroad engineer. His post-retirement job was being an engineer on the little locomotive at Kiddieland, a small amusement park outside Chicago. He loved it. I bet you do, too.

wordy, I, too, have many tales of insurance, uh, crud. I hates 'em with a passion, I does.

You are evil. My six-year-old great-nephew sang that song last summer, and I had that earworm for days.

sunny, what migraine medication injection do you get? Asking for my son, who has intransigent migraines.

You stop that right now, young man, before you go blind.

Can you wrap her hoof in an Epsom soaked diaper? My gelding blew a double abscess. The farrier was so excited “look at all the pus!” Snazzy sounding tack room.

Yeah, I have a phone (just a flip phone) and I don’t talk on it that much.

There are always outliers. I’m not one of them, and I’m guessing Thumper isn’t either, since she walks with a cane.

I have a soaking boot. Much easier to make sure her coronet gets a real soak, that’s where the drain is. Any kind of bandage is a production.

The tack room is super duper snazzy. The one that burned down had wooden siding walls, but the price of lumber has doubled, so we went with sheetrock. I had rubber stall mats on the concrete floor before (they saved the concrete from spalling and cracking in the fire although they sacrificed themselves doing it). The tile is the big fanciness. Plus I am painting the walls a warm cream color with celadon green trim and black fittings. Primer goes on tomorrow. Is there a happy dance emoji?

I spent a few childhood days at Kiddieland, though my family’s go-to was Adventureland during its heyday in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.

We have two full-time engineers for our train. One is 81 and has actual railroad experience. He is convinced that nobody will be able to care for the engine after he’s gone, despite the fact that it ran for 86 years before him. The second engineer is a mechanic by trade, and definitely knows what he’s doing.

I, on the other hand, have no mechanical or railroad experience. I was taught how to fire and drive the engine as a backup. I give the other guys lunch breaks and fill in in the event they’re both out on the same day. I’m learning about maintenance little by little, but if it were left entirely in my hands, the locomotive would surely fall badly into disrepair.

But yeah, it’s fun as hell!

baker, Nelson is a trooper when it comes to inclement weather. Raining buckets is when I really have to coax him, but I suit him up in a slicker and he usually lifts a leg under the eves, where it’s not as wet. He knows the rule about having to pee at minimum before we come in, so he makes it snappy. In cold weather, he gets suited up in one of two coats and in the snow, his booties are added. As long as he’s covered up, he’s pretty good for up to half an hour. We go out a minimum of three times a day. When I had the flu, some days, I just put him on the retractable leash and stood at the end of the walkway from my apartment and let him wander the 12’ of tether. He forgave me.

Happy dance emojis:

:man_dancing:t2::dancer:t3: Plus :racehorse: :confetti_ball: :tada: for good measure

Howdy Y’all! Been a day of much chill and sloth. We did procure provisions this mornin’ and laundry got done however. Thus it was not total chill and sloth just much. Sup was grilled ham steaks, roasted carrots 'n N.O.T., corn casserole, and rolls. There are leftovers for tomorrow even. The weather has been extremely nice today so we day drank out on the back porch this afternoon. Y’all know the old adage. A gin and tonic (or more) with a twist a day, will keep malaria and scurvy away.

CupCakes the weather might not be too awful here tomorrow. I expect tstorms will abound, however. On the plus side looks like they might move on through by mid-afternoon(ish).

Evening all. Rain started here about 5pm, with thunder and lightning kicking in about 45 minutes later/ It’s 7:45pm local as I type this and it’s still raining with more in the forecast–2-3" is predicted, so local flooding is likely (I’m not close to any flooding areas). Still have a lot more bad weather coming, so it’ll be a long, wet night here in N. Ali-bama (and red is catching it to, Nelson’s evening walk may be a trip to the eaves…)

Napped this afternoon, first one in quite a while, so I’ll be up late tonight. Helped out with soccer uniform distribution from 5-6:30pm and am washing some referee T-shirts that got rather stinky sitting around for several years (may keep 1-2 as my fee). The shelf holding my big mugs broke away again (third time in about 5 weeks), breaking two mugs and a couple dishes, so I’ve given up and moved the mugs (they are big and heavy) to a bottom shelf and will rearrange the rest of the dishes…sometime.

hippie, enjoy your night out. Don’t think I have any friends that go that far back, most of mine were made 20-30 years ago. Cherish the time.

FCM, had to look up what a Bumbo is. Hope Toby enjoys it (and holds still long enough for another Facebook photo…)

Sunny, sounds like your medical history could fill several (large) pages. Take care and hope you’re doing well.

OK, need to move the stinky T-shirts to the dryer (with ample dryer sheets to compensate). All y’all take care.

This sounds lovely. I’m glad you’re still doing things together.

This one is called Vyepti. It’s an infusion, and I get it at the medical center.

Thank you. It needed to be said.

I endorse this re-naming.

That’s an actual song? :astonished: I thought it was made up for the store! If you have a recording…

The pulled pork was good, but Wifey didn’t have any. She hasn’t been feeling well after eating the last couple/few nights.

Oh, “Chicken Wing” was a huge TikTok hit. What you heard is pretty much the whole song. I mean, there’s a version with lyrics, but they’re spoken. Here’s a version with spoken lyrics, but be forewarned: listening to it too long will make you want to go out and deck a chicken.

We were all younger and dumber a while back.

We had just moved into this place and the neighbor’s cat had me convinced that he was stuck on our roof and skeered. I fell for it and was sprawled half way on the roof when kitty realized that my body made a very convenient ladder, hence me thrashing in pain and kicking the ladder over.

I used to report to a political appointee and it truly suckith. She used to use all of her “people” as campaigning volunteers until it was noticed that our work wasn’t getting done and then there was much wailing and pointing of fingers.

Poor baby, that must really hurt a bunch. It’s good to see you here

Thanks for the support, but he was right. Stoopid me falling for a cat’s lies. I know that all cats are lying lyers who lie but I fall for them all the time.

Grins. I like it too

I think I mentioned the monogram cross stitch my BFF gave me on Sunday? It was a dollar store thing, and of course they are made cheap, but I had to laugh about the half the alphabet pattern. Usually monogram patterns come with the entire alphabet but the makers were able to save a fraction of a penny by not using that extra ink and paper.

Today I saw bees at the bird bath. I was fairly sure it was spring when I saw the Turkey Buzzard but knowing that the bees are awake means it’s really here. I put some of the periwinkles in the ground and looked at where I am going to plant the pomegranate tree. * IMHO, pomegranate fruit is way too much bother to eat, but the trees are beautiful and the hummers and Orioles love them.

Our yard flock has doubled in size and GG has started chasing them through the house. He sees them fly past the french doors, runs full tilt into the catio, then flies down the hall, bouncing over hubs to get to the nightstand on the back bedroom window. This startles the flock to flying back to the safety of their roses and of course GG goes back after them.

*I am not going to actually dig the hole or anything, I’m way too old for that shit. I’m going to go to our favorite plant nursery and pay for a 4 ft tree and someone to dig the hole.
