Your preferred mayonnaise brand?

Hellman’s, although I don’t think I’ve ever had Duke’s. I don’t think they sell it up here, do they? Hmm…looking at their store finder, it seems we could get it at military commissaries, a place called “Schnuck’s” (which I’ve never heard of) and The Fresh Market (which I’m not sure what that is, either. There’s lots of unrelated stores with Fresh Market in the name, but I don’t know one just called The Fresh Market.) I’ll have to seek it out to compare. Anyhow, I’ve tried buying store brands or generic off brands to save money, and I’ve always regretted the decision and just go back to Hellman’s.

I do also make my own mayo from time to time, but, for sandwiches, I just prefer Hellman’s.

I grew up with Miracle Whip, then changed to Hellman’s for several decades. A while back I once again tried Miracle Whip, and now I’m back.

Same here. I honestly don’t really notice a difference between brands.

Miracle Whip, OTOH, is vile, disgusting, and an affront to food.

Between the two common store brands, I prefer Kraft Mayo over Hellman’s/Best.

I’ve never heard of Duke’s. I prefer Miracle Whip myself.

For all my mayo needs, Kraft Sandwich Spread.

Kraft. It has garlic and parika and other stuff that makes it different, unlike the other ones that seem to want lemon juice.

Ctrl-F Costo, Ctrl-F Kirkland - not found.

Holy hell, y’all need to get to a Costco, stat! It’s the densest, richiest, may-o-naisiest I’ve ever tasted.

Definitely will check that out next time. I’ve always been impressed by pretty much all their Kirkland products.

Home-made, of course.

As I don’t use it often, I typically make my own mayonnaise. Serious Eats some some good tutorials. I add the oil in a thin stream, rather than all at once.

The main issue with homemade mayo is that it only has a three day shelf life. This turns out to be its greatest strength and it’s greatest weakness. If I make it, I need to finish it within 3 days, so that’s a lot of mayo to consume (I recommend adding rosemary and pressed garlic and dipping french fries). The plus side is that it’s so unhealthy to eat a cup of mayo over three days, that I only rarely make or eat mayo.

Really? Stick it in a jar in the fridge and it will keep a week or two.

Huh, now I see that even the recipe I linked states a 2 week shelf life. Nevermind then, emulsify away!

There is only one commercial mayonnaise. Hellmans/Best Foods, end of sentence.

I have made my own, and it’s not bad, but for commercial stuff there is nothing else.

My fav is Just Mayo (which actually isn’t mayonnaise at all, which makes the name hilarious) but I also like Nayonaise.

Another vote for Hellman’s, although I’d love to try Duke’s. Must look at the Dollar Tree next time.

Ketchup is not tomato sauce, Miracle Whip is not mayonnaise. It may be used in a similar way but is very different tasting and a sugary, completely different product. I cant stand the stuff, but I’ve met a lot of people that cant stand mayo but like Miracle Whip.

I usually buy Hellmans/Bestfoods, never seen Dukes, guess its not available here. Haven’t made it at home for a long time but this thread makes me want to again.

For years Hellman’s was #1. Then I heard about Dukes. Hellman’s is #2 now.

Anybody remember Cain’s? New England brand, gone now. Hellman’s/Best Foods for second place.

Mayonnaise is disgusting.
