He goes to bed around 7:30, 8:00 usually. I stay up and watch the stuff I want to watch which he doesn’t. Then I usually fall asleep on the couch and get a HORRIBLE night’s rest. I spend a lot of the day tired.
Especially if your SO is 12.
The only appropriate thing to do is invite a few friends over, break out the beer and crank up the heavy metal. After all, it’s not you that’s sleepy.
I usually work. I’m a grad student with two small kids, so I get some productive time between 10pm and 2am.
When I had an SO, I used to like to poke/tickle their nose and ears (as you would a sleeping cat) and annoy them until they woke up and got pissed.
After that I would let them go back to sleep and go online shopping.
If my husband is actually ‘asleep’, he doesn’t miss me. If he’s about to go to sleep, he may want to snuggle for a bit, and therefore may holler downstairs: “Hey, you coming up soon?”
If he does that, I know he wants to snuggle, and do my best to go up to bed ‘soon’. If, after we’ve snuggled, he is sound asleep and I’m still not sleepy, I’ll. . .read my book, get on the computer, go clean up the bathroom, etc., until I’m tired enough to go to sleep.
Knowing I’ve got kids to deal with in the morning (our youngest is 9), if I need something to help me sleep, I’ll take it.
But neither of us hesitate to get on the 'net, watch recorded programing, or read during the night. If the other is disturbed by this and wakes up, we’ve been together long enough to be honest about it.
Mr. Salinqmind goes to bed at 10 p.m. as he has to get up to go to work at 5 a.m. I’m retired. No way in HELL am I going to bed at 10 p.m.!!! (Of course, we’ve been married 20 some years.) I sit up and channel surf, read, eat the ice cream that calls out to me at midnight, and check my e-mail. I have a grand time all by my lonesome. All I ask is that if I fall asleep on the couch, that he be considerate enough to creep around quietly like a mouse as he gets ready to go to work.
Hmmm. I may be able to venture a guess why there’s no SO right now.
Heh, heh, heh. Yes, I am a very annoying person. So you may be right!
I am basically 10 years old. I just can’t stand to see somebody relaxing and resting when I want to hang out and be awake and stuff. When I go home to visit my folks I torture my dad constantly when he falls asleep in front of the TV. (Well, the way I see it, he ASKED me to keep him awake so we could watch “NCIS” together. I’m really just doing my job.)
I sleep about 6 hrs a day. my wife cranks out more than 10 and adds naps. I have Medieval 2 to beat. Plus she does not watch the History Channel, ESPN, Discovery . She does watch the Shopping Channels. So we do spend time apart. Do you know that you can watch “Tooltime” for about 3 hrs in a row every day? Well. she does.
He’s asleep. I’m netting and watching cable tv. And eating Cadbury Creme eggs.
