Your Swiss Army Knife (a poll)

A recruit. For many years.

Leatherman.

I think the model is called a PORTLAND OR

Truthfully, I think it’s the PST. Pliers, file, screwdrivers, can opener, knife blade, and awl.

I have a Rambler. I used to have this cool mini multitool, but it got confiscated at the airport.

The model that preceeded the “Champ”, I think. Had it for quite a while.

Santa brought me a nifty Meyerchin rigging knife just this past Xmas.

I have a classic on my keyring. It’s stamped with the logo of the company my brother works for; guess where I got it. I also have a camper. Both are red.

Ah yes, that’s what I have also. Comes in handy at times.

Maybe I should get a Ranger.

Do you have a little car on the front, or just the Victorinox symbol?

1 spartan (in house) with tools
1 mini leatherman in backpack
2 off-brand knife n screwdriver jobbies, one in each car
1 faux-scrimshaw knife with a locking blade for whittling

Somewhere, there is a Tinker with my name on it.

Literally.

My parents brought it back from their trip to Europe a few years ago. They gave me a Tinker that was engraved with my first and last name.

It’s around somewhere, I just have to find ut

I wonder how may of these things are confiscated at airport security? I understand they give you a chance to take it back to your car but if there isn’t enough time, well, they got it! :frowning:

Fershlugginer?? Dr P you been readin’ *Mad Magazine * AGAIN? We warned you about what would happen to you if you kept readin’ that stuff…

Used to have two black Spartans, lost both in the last year and now have an Officier (all Victorinox).

The main requirement for a SAK is, IMHO, the ability to open all known forms of alcoholic drink container.

Gerber compact sport and I love it. It has the best little scissors…

I used to have a Buck multi-tool, which had a very interesting flipping opening mechanism, but this made it useless as a screwdriver.

I’ve got a black Swiss Army Card in my wallet. I’m suprised how many time I use it.
For mutiltools I have to say The Leatherman Wave is the best one I’ve seen/used.

Victorinox Climber

I use the scissors and corkscrew most often.

I’ve had an Explorer for years and years now.

It may not pass Swiss Army muster, but I generally keep a Leatherman Micra in my pocket at all times (excepting flying anywhere of course–I might bring down the plane with those tweezers!).

I’ve got the Wenger Supertalent. Thing weighs a ton.

My six year old nephew FOUND a Victorinox Swiss Champ, complete with leather case, while we were hiking a deep woods trail in the Nicolet.

It was funny, because all thoughout the camping trip he’d been collecting an arsenal of sticks that were vaguely weapon-shaped. So he’s bringing up the rear on the trail, saying wow, look at the cool knife I found, it’s got this and that cool thing on it.

So my sister, not turning around and thinking it’s just another stick, keeps telling him to throw it away and come along. Heheh.

She’s put it away to give back to him when he’s older.

Only one so far–a Victorinox Tinker.
I’ve used everythng it has so far, except that funny little blade with a hole in it.
Did anyone else see a show the other night on the History Channel about swords and knives? They showed a visit to the Victorinox factory!

I have no idea which model my SAK is, but it’s got lots o’ stuff, and I take it everywhere except work (the security people will confiscate it). My mother-in-law gave it to me as a gift many years ago, so you can tell I have a pretty cool MIL!

d_redguy and I have more pocket-type knives around than you can shake a stick at. Although I think I am the only one that takes one everywhere. I just got it at an Army Surplus store in Wilmington, NC. It is clear blue and pointy and sharp as Hell. I love it.

But then again, I love knives. Which is why we have so many.

(I hope his parents don’t find out he lost his “special” knife. But…You know, I think it’s in his sock drawer.)
