Your Talents

Okay, here’s your chance. Let your talents shine! Do you write stories? Poetry? Songs/Music? (Can you share something you’ve written?) Can you draw? (Can you scan your art for us to see?) Any hidden talents?
Any original jokes? Anything you do that is special or that you do well, we (or at least I) would like to hear about it.

Well you did say anything…

White pieces:

Bishops h2,h3
Knight c3
pawns e2, d4

Black:
King c6

White to play and mate in 3 moves

(composed when I was 15, published much later in The Guardian chess column)

May I?
I have played the flute for 20 years (I’m only 28- that’s a long time!)

I am learing the harmonica right now.

Today I bought a book to learn piano- I’m going to sign up for lessons in December.

I have a great knack for learning and teaching software.

I can sing pretty good.

I give really good advice. (ask me anything!)

I like helping people and I do it often. (I think that’s a talent)

I always thought I wrote poetry. According to a certain thread in the BBQ, I don’t.

Lessee… I’m a fun mommy. I dance and sing and read bedtime stories for hours.

That’s all.

I can ride a unicycle and walk on stilts…you’d be surprized how infrequently I get to showcase these skills. I also play the violin and can sew clothing well enough to actually wear it in public. Uh, I can hang a spoon from my nose? Ok, now I’m grasping…

Talents…Talents? Hmmmmm…Talents!

I suppose that I have only one…I can Roll my 'R’s for hours.

Well, I can sing, but that’s kind of hard to show on the board. < grin > Mostly I sing at church, but I’m trying to find some other places to sing as well, since I enjoy it.

I’m starting to write original fiction as well. At some point I’ll have something to show for it…

I have absolutely no talents at all.

Thank you.

Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis ad capul tuum saxum immane mittam.

I have a knack for learning software, also. I have never read a damn thing about how to do Windows, or been taught anything, but I can show you all it’s ins and outs. I can pick up a game in no time flat. I never read manuals. I can bullshit my way through anything. I am a human monkey, anything near me can and will be scaled. I have an amazing standing verticle. I have a 10 inch dick. No, that’s a lie. Oh yeah. I can lie really good. Not that one, though. I’ve been at Best Buy for less than a month, but am already ranked near the top for PSP sales. I’m a natural salesman. I can get people to do about anything I want. I’m a classical ballet dancer with a touch of Barishnakov. No, that also is a lie. Okay. It’s late, I’m tired, and I need to poop.

We are the children of the Eighties. We are not the first “lost generation” nor today’s lost generation; in fact, we think we know just where we stand - or are discovering it as we speak.

I sing… sort of… sang for the royal family a few years back… other than ole randy andy having a nice butt… it wasnt that exciting… guess ill just have to keep my many other talents hidden for now

We are, each of us angels with only one wing;
and we can only fly by
embracing one another

That’s plently. I hope you know that
The world needs a lot of people with your talent.

I can pretty much play any musical instrument but I play the guitar (classical mostly but really any style), the lute (not the flute), the recorder (yes, the one you learned to play in elementary school), and sing well. I also compose music. I currently have about a hundred pieces. I have won a competition and received honorable mentions for my compositions. I also write my own poetry when I write songs. (Songs are different from pieces.)

I won’t send out my songs here because I have been too lazy to copyright them recently. I will post in a few days if I remember.

I can juggle three and four balls with many different patterns, play hackey sack, catch things behind my back, do gymnastics (complete with ariels), and all sorts of physical things. I can also do multiplication, long division, addition, and subtraction in my head (most of the time). Oh, and I never proofread my messages.

HUGS!

PS. There are other things I can do but I can’t think of them now.

I’m a great listener.

If I can’t make ya laugh, I can at least make ya smile.

I learn quickly.

I have a second degree black belt in Lick Fu.

I can rotate my eyeballs like pinwheels.

I can impersonate several characters, including Yoda, Yogi Bear, Marvin the Martian, Hank Hill, and that shy vulture from Looney Tunes-the one that sounds like Shaggy Dumb.

I can carry a tune in a bucket, but I might water the grass on the way.

I know I had more talents listed on the last version of this thread. I guess remembering things isn’t a talent of mine; neither is spelling. :frowning:

You say “cheesy” like that’s a BAD thing.

I can make 100 free throws in a row.
I am extremely good at bluffing in a poker game.
I can watch CSPAN for lengthy time periods and reamin both awake and coherent.

I write science fiction well enough to have a novel published and stories in Asimov’s, Fantasy and Science Fiction, Realms of Fantasy, and Galaxy.

As is probably obvious from the bulk of my posts I am fairly skilled in the martial arts (22 years learning, 17 years teaching, 14 years as a dojo owner) and on the subject of self defense. I consider it my vocation, but others might say it is a talent.

I can do all sorts of “stupid martial artists tricks” that might be classified better as “talents”.

I think perhaps my favorite is the single (sometimes double) concrete slab push break (not a strike, just a push). Really impresses the locals.

What more could you expect from somebody who lets people kick him to the head?

I can play the flute, tenor saxophone, trumpet, tuba, and piano. (Also things that are vaguely like these: pipe organ, SATB recorders, etc.)

None of them terrifically well, but if the flautist, saxophonist, trumpet player, tuba player, or pianist doesn’t show up for your party, you’d probably rather have me there than nobody.

I am a really good cook. That’s about it. Oh, and I type 93 wpm (give or take) with no mistakes.

I know (and can sing moderately well) a vast number of bizarre old songs.

I’m a competent, fast and workmanlike writer–and I never miss my deadlines!

I’m a really good portrait artist (pen or pencil, not paint), though I’m too smart by half to have tried to earn a living at it.

I can look at a fashion plate or photo and date it to within a couple of years (I worked at a costume history museum for two years).

I can grow fantastic “tomatoes” in my closet. In fact, there the best “tomatoes” that I’ve ever smoked. I mean eaten. Yeah, eaten. That’s it. Yeah. Uh, what was the question again?
