The update, such as it is: she didn’t make it to the party. Word is, her father got really sick and ended up in the ER. I suspect this is true because 1) a smaller excuse would have done fine, and 2) I know her father is old and frail.
I foresee this ending with a whimper instead of a bang. Works for me.
