I chose this as my user name because I think the same way as Hecubus from Kids In The Hall does.
I think I’m evil, but I’m really just kind of naughty

My nick name comes from the TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? For anybody who hasn’t seen it, it’s an improv comedy show now on ABC, after spending 10 years on British television. They play a game called Superheroes, where one person starts out playing a superhero suggested by the audience. Then the next person comes in, and the first person says, “Thank God you’re here, (fill in the blank)!”. Then he has to be whatever superhero the first one said, and they do that with all four. The superheroes all have useless super powers, like Bad John Wayne Impersonator Boy, Dog-In-Heat Boy, and so on. The Bitterdrunk Kid was one of these.
well, it’s because it’s what I am.
I still have the scar from my namesake. Wanna see it? It’s right here, yeah, the firm fleshy part.
On my left hand, near my thumb.
I was hit by lightning. Twice.
And no, I didn’t get any damn superpowers. Radioactive spider, my ass.
My friends stand far, far away from me during thunderstorms.
Mine is a pseudonym.
Mine was a name given to the character that I was going to play in a movie that my roomate and I were gonna make in school. I don’t know why it is spelled this way…
Coz I like globe-trottin’.
No, really! I kid you not!
I’m named after the famous Chinese martial arts superstar, as my Japanese sister-in-law pronounces it.
Mine has roots in high school goofiness, SNL and comics. I was (am) a big ol nerd, and the class know-it-all. But I’m also kinda stocky and Italian (read: hairy). One day a friend remarked “Yeah, he seems smart, but he’s really ‘just a caveman’” in the classic Hartmanesque style. I thought it was terribly funny, and went with it.
Oh, the comics part…well, I really miss *The Far Side[i/]. In school, I pasted the calendar pages on my book covers. I can even draw my favorite character, the caveman (that’s about all I can drw, though…)
ack! un-italicize! un-italicize! See, I am just a caveman…your code frightens and confuses me…
My name comes from the half-true urban legend that John F. Kennedy said “I am a jelly donut.” He actually said “Ich bin ein Berliner” which could mean “I am a Berliner (a kind of jelly donut)” or as most Germans would interpret it, “I am one with the people of Berlin.” His grammar was flawless, but it was kind of a senseless pun. Anyway, I’m kind of a Germanophile and it makes for a good story.
Mine came from my last name being “Smalley”. Sometimes I’ll write my username as “CLAYTON_e”. It’s a pretty bad pun, my grandfather thought it up in the 50’s.
My real name is Michel de Nostre-Dame. This derives from the
place which was home to my ancestors, itself named for the dedication of its church to Our Lady otherwise the Virgin Mary.
I prefer to use the Latin form because it sounds more pretentious.
Mine is from the hitchhikers’ guide to the galaxy. The main character is named Arthur Dent.
In one exchange, another character asks his name.
He replies:
Dent, Arthur Dent.
the other character replies
well, come with me dentarthurdent or you will be late.
Mine is just my name. Yes my name is Bean. No I am not related to LL Bean, thankyouverymuch.
Back in the day’s of bbs’s (or is that bbses?) I used the title of a book by Barbara Hambly, Lord Dragonbane. However, somewhere along the line that became too long. Might have been my brief foray into Compuserve’s CB about '89 or '90. So I just picked another character out of her Darwath books, since Lord Dragonbane’s given name “John” just didn’t have the right ring to it. Been using it virtually (pun intended) everywhere ever since.
Jellydonut gave mine away. It’s from an Einsturzende Neubauten song.
I’ve heard it interpretted as “I am” or “It’s me”.
I just thought it was funny the day I signed up.
Well, back in 1989 (that was last century, folks!) I started using BBSs. I had to come up with a handle. Gumby was on TV. Join the dots …
As for the psycho prefix … well, back in 1996 or whenever it was when I first made the big jump from BBSs to the net, I wanted to use the name ‘gumby’ with my ISP. Unfortunately, there were hundreds (possibly thousands) of ppl named ‘gumby’ on the net. It’s probably tens of thousands, but I digress.
I needed a prefix to set myself apart. Something that encapsulated my strongest personality trait.
There might be many thousands of gumbies, but there is only one psychogumby. Which is probably a good thing.
The scary part is if I had been on that BBS half an hour earlier, i’d probably now be ‘psychoelmo’ or ‘psychobigbird’.
Elessar is the name given to Aragorn in Lórien (from The Lord of the Rings). Aragorn has been my favorite fictional character for years, and Lórien is one of my favorite settings.
OOOORRR…
I wanted to jumble up the letters in “resales” because I just love to buy stuff and sell it on a secondary market. You be the judge.
