Whell for eons I went as Tzar on the multitude of MUDs and chat rooms I visited. Then suddenly there were tons of ppl named Tzar, Czar, Tzarr, Tsar, etc. Then I switched to Tzarcasm (which got many a laugh), but lo-and-behold, we’ve got Czarcasm for an adminny here!

So I took Xixox from an Everquest character o mine. As for how I decided on the name… it’s just something that’s really easy to type

“Sasquatch” is a real-life nickname given to me by a friend of mine, and it just stuck. I put the exclamation point in there for extra “oomph”. I’m not sure what that means, but it can’t hurt to have extra “oomph”, just in case.

And for those who desire visual aids:

In my youth, I was in a horrible noise-band, Electric Mud.
We did a local radio show, and the host, the legendary *BlackHumour started calling me Larry Mudd on a whim. (He was thinking of Harry Mudd from Star Trek.)
It stuck. That was in 1988.

[ /b] Dammit.

I am a beekeeper, and though I am 19 I still think of myself as a girl. My lucky number is 13 because I was born on Friday the 13th.

Mine’s self explanitory and as a bonus it’ll occasionally throw a conservative into a pointless rant.

I went to a military school for four years. This was a name I was given my Plebe year. I hated it, because the sergeant who gave the name never told me why. After a few years, I was an “old man”, and there was only a few cadets left from my freshman year. The name became one of affection. Only a tight-knit group of “old men” got to call me that. It seemed the only logical choice for a user name.

I’m just poking fun at what others seem to think of as my personality. People seem to think I’m very shy (I’m not), just because I’m quiet and reserved. I have a lot of fun (and learn a LOT) just pretending to be wallpaper at parties, etc.

Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov is the Russian engineer who invented my favorite rifle. His life is quite a rags-to-riches story too.

Well, I’ve resisted these threads long enough.

This handle is an old, old one, and I use it everywhere. On AOL, I was bughunter5 for a long time. (The first bughunter on AOL was an guy whose actual job was for the FBI as a surveillance device snooper. I chatted with him once. He deserved the un-suffixed handle!) And if you want to email me, I’m bughunter with an earthlink.net domain.

OK - the origin: Back in 1983, when I was a freshman at CU Boulder in CS 101, it was cool to alter your login script on your VAX account to SET_PROCNAME= something funky (8 char limit though). At first I was “El_Gato” but that became tired quick. I wanted something that would make people think twice when they did a SHOW PROC, something that looked like a daemon. So I picked BUGHUNTR, hoping that some lameass dweeb would think “hey cool, they have a background process that hunts bugs!” And of course, it was appropriate, since I seemed to spend 10% of my time coding, and 90% of my time debugging.

Yea, anyway, a year later when I got my first 300 baud modem and started registering on BBSes, I naturally used “bughunter” as an alias. Many BBSes and web forums later, it’s still seldom taken. (But the domain bughunter is taken on all of the top level domains… bummer.) I’ve been using it ever since, and probably always will.

By now, anyone who knows me both IRL and online will be able to identify me. My cover is blown.

I’ve got Finnish blood and one of my best friends is French…and well… we both want to be Scottish. We have our dreams and they have resulted in the Finnofranco Scottish Society. The only real rules for joining is to be either Finnish or French and have a burning desire to be Scottish.

Mine has absolutely nothing to do with the nice pink building at a hospital in Hawaii, overlooking the ocean. . .

I picked up mine on a MUCK about 5 years back, when I reminded someone of Trip Tripler from Doonesbury. It stuck ever since. . .

“Oswald” however, takes some 'splainin to do . . .

Tripler
Trip Tripler, damn glad to meetcha!

Well, I thought I was being original, combining my own propensity for getting in troulble with my astrological sign (leo). But then, moi pointed out this:

Sigh. And her user name is so much better than mine, and she stole it from me!

Do I even need to explain?

A tritone is an interval in music, consisting of three tones (think F to B on the keyboard of your piano). It has a kind of symmetry to it, because it’s the same whichever way up you turn it, and way way back before tonality it used to be called “the devil’s interval” because of its somewhat discordant sound. When I started using this name, I was studying composition at university, and it seemed pretty cool. I’ve stuck with it, even though I’m now a medical student

Tritone is becoming increasingly hard to get, though, so when it’s not available, I use augmented4th, which means pretty much the same thing (and is kind of a cool musical in-joke). I could also be diminished5th, but I don’t want to be a diminished anything, thank you very much!

As this has moved back onto the first page I’ll add my explanation . . .

One day long ago in a far away land . . .

I was playing a computer game, having achived a ‘High Score’ I began entering my real name, when the keyboard was viscously attacked by my younger brother - resulting in the name Gartog

and I have used it ever since - I tend to use this everywhere online.

I’m an expat.

Trying to maintain some sort of tie to my home (and native land :D), I used to try to use “Expat” anywhere I registered. But I got sick and tired of having to be “Expat972,” or variations thereof, 'cause everybody was just as original as I was. Figured I’d puntificate a little bit on the name. And lo! There ya go.

My family called me Shanny when I was little (short for Shannon, my middle name) and somehow it mutated to Shannybonanny, thereby defeating the point of nicknames being shorter than real names. I guess they thought it was catchy. Also, I thought Shanny was my actual name until 1st grade.

Fairly simple - my favorite character from * Metaverse *. Aficianados of Tolkien probably can find out the meaning. Galen is what I would be like if I were a sociopathic alcoholic - his response to The Bar Brawl is to wander around with a bottle in one hand and a pistol in the other, shooting random participants in the back of the head.

I’d say he has issues.

Anyway, I use some variation of Galen all over the web, as passwords, etc.

By the by - you haven’t heard of Metaverse because we haven’t published it yet - we’ve only been playtesting for six or seven years. :o My sig line is a catchphrase from the game.

Dagnabbit!
