note: I finally heard The Stills on the radio yesterday
All MP3s; I rarely listen to the radio. Numbers 1, 2, and 4 I’ve had for a while, but only recently began to listen to. They’re all very good.
1: “Hard Road” - Sam Roberts
etc…
[in no particular order]
Cut Copy - Going Nowhere
The Wrens - Everyone Choose Sides
Urshur ft Lil Jon and Ludacris - Yeah
Wilco - At Least That’s What You Said
Murs - Walk Like A Man
Shellac - This is a picture
Aerosmith - The Grind
Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow (long version)
David Bowie - The Prettiest Star
Foo Fighters - Burn Away
theyve been the main tracks rocking off my MP3 player all weekend anyhoo.
The Stone Roses - I Am The Resurrection
The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
The Bluetones - Slight Return
Don McLean - Vincent
Verve - Already There
I wish Mars Volta and Sparta were still At The Drive-In ::sigh::
After finally hearing of Modest Mouse for years, I finally heard a song by him (they?). " Float on." I don’t know, I was expecting something like either Belle and Sebastian or Weezer…and boy was I off the mark. The song is sort of growing on me, but are Modest Mouse and Stellastarr trying to start an early 80s revival? That song, and Stellastarr’s “My coco” and " Jenny" scream 1982 at me.
These are in no particular order, and most of these I’ve had for a while, but I’ve listened to them a lot this week.
Radiohead - Gagging Order
Kanye West ft Jay-Z and J Ivy - Never Let Me Down
Franz Ferdinand - Auf Asche
The Von Bondies - C’mon C’mon
Urshur - Yeah (still)
Hmmm, does stuff heard live count? Because I saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones performing this week, and was astounded. The only songs I knew the names of, however, were “Wipeout” and a couple of Beatles songs.
Fountains of Wayne, “Red Dragon Tattoo”
Wilco, “Reservations”
Bangles, “Hazy Shade of Winter”
Cab Calloway, “Minnie the Moocher”
OutKast, “Roses”
The week ending April 24th:
gex gex I like the beat in that Usher song a lot, but the lyrics not so much. I liked " You Make Me Wanna" a lot, though.
Week ending May 1st:
Nobody else heard anything good last week? Bummer
Hopefully this week has been more musically interesting for people
