Someone started a thread about this show a while back and since I was procrastinating a the time I sat and watched the whole 1st episode. I went today and watched the 2nd episode and I think I may have to keep watching.
It’s ridiculously trashy TV. For those not aware it’s a reality show about a bunch of spoiled rich princess types whose family are tired or supporting them. The family dramatically cuts them off and the brats are taken to a house where they have to live together and learn to do things like share, wash dishes and grocery shop. Predictably you have different character types: the one who is actually sweet and seems to be learning something from all this, the bitch who is nasty to everyone and pretty much refuses to participate in the lesson, etc.
I’ve been looking for trashy TV to watch this summer. I went from Pawn Stars (not trashy at all) to My Life on the D-List (giggly) to Bad Girls Club (zomg!!!) … I’ll hit up VH1.com to watch this one for sure.
I felt bad for all the people working at the grocery store (or waiting in line behind them). That scene kind of missed the point on showing respect for others.
Looks like things have begun to split up into two sides. The blonde daughter of the plastic surgeon is setting herself up to be hated on both sides. I thought the girl that won V.I.P. seemed awful at first but I didn’t hate her quite so much at the end of episode 2. Hard to imagine anyone is really going to be changed forever by this though.
You can watch all of episode 2 and clips from episode 1 on the VH1 website for anyone like me who is cabley challenged.
That sounds like something I’d watch (in small doses). Part of what keeps me coming back to all the wedding shows is my constantly-refreshed disbelief at how some girls act - “It’s MY DAY! I get what I want! Somebody will pay for it!”
You might want to check out “Millionaire Matchmaker” for more trainwrecky fascination - I haven’t watched it much, but the matchmaker is a stone cold bitch named Patti, and all of her millionaires that I’ve seen so far have been complete assholes. And it’s set in LA, I believe, for that extra soupçon of “Ohmygod, what’s the matter with these people?”
Well, I did have an earlier thread on this show that sank like a stone.
Haven’t been able to watch any of it since the first couple of minutes, after which I posted that they all make me want to take a baseball bat to their heads for the betterment of Humanity. Totally worthless self-absorbed Human scum who will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
And geez, CW. Millionaire Matchmaker? Can’t stand to watch that either. I see that woman and think “Hmmm… No Relationship, No Beauty, No Style…and she thinks she can teach others about those things???”
The premise had promise but the participants seem to be trying too hard to act the part that they are expected to portray, which makes it too fake and contrived to be enjoyable.
Oo, that reminds me of the show Flipping Out, with the control freak/OCD house flipper and his cowed-into-submission staff. That show is good for some OMG-type reactions too.
I love this show! OMG I am trying to convince everyone to watch it so I will have someone to discuss it with. It’s like a trainwreck. A ridiculous, Gucci-clad trainwreck. I find it hysterical. I also can’t decide who is friends with whom. They’re all so willing to be catty about each other. Just when I think Gia and Erica are ready to kill each other, they’re hanging out and being friendly. Then they’re practically pulling each other’s hair in the next scene.
What’s crazy is that they all love to talk about how beautiful they are, but in my opinion, most of them look horrible. Way too much makeup - it ages them all terribly. Courtney is very pretty, but that’s it.
Basically, these people are completely ridiculous and I’m grateful to VH1 for bringing their existence to my attention so I can laugh at them.
I started in 102 the first full episode online so I missed some of the setup. What is the motivation for them to be doing the work tasks assigned to them? If they quit or leave they get to go home and go back to being princesses.
Beyond this they are so insanely lazy and entiitled it’s got to be a put on. Do people like this actually exist IRL? They have to be camping it up for the show… Don’t they?
Supposedly their enablers are not going to give them any more money unless they “pass” the…uh, show I guess.
Gia is pretty annoying but part of me feels a tiny bit bad for her because she is the only one who got sent by her husband (actually I think she is the only one who is married), everyone else had a parent or grandparent. I think they are wise to keep making a point of how little she actually does to care for their daughter, otherwise I think some people might be more upset at her husband for doing this to her. Gotta be some weird dynamics in that marriage.
I think some of them do play to the cameras a bit but unfortunately I don’t think they are exaggerating that much. I don’t doubt Erica actually wears tiaras all the time and has a personal astrologer. And does anyone think Pamela is actually an investment banker?
I think a few of them are quite pretty objectively speaking (particularly Pamela and Chrissy) but once they open their mouths it kinda ruins the effect.
I’m of the opinion that if you’re willing to sign up for a reality show, you probably are the self-entitled narcissist you appear to be. Normal people would run screaming away from that kind of exposure.
I know, right? She was so awful to her husband when they showed them interacting, and basically said straight out that she married him for money. Jesus.
HELL no. I liked it when someone asked her straight out if she was a prostitute because frankly, that’s what I was thinking. (Her denial was not very convincing.) And apparently Erica is in law school. El oh el, my friends, would you want her to be your lawyer, with her tiara? She had a bat mitzvah for her dog!
The Vh1 website is apparently having technical problems with episode 3. I haven’t been able to watch it. Episode 4 is up now.
This is probably overkill but I will spoiler it for anyone who hasn’t seen it.
I still can’t help feeling slightly sorry for Gia. For all her talk about being “Queen Bee” she really doesn’t have much skill. I mean…hitting someone with a pillow? Really? She is way outmatched by Erica who is just so good at that manipulative B.S. Erica was totally power tripping and intentionally needling people while doing her work as “manager.” I can’t believe she won V.I.P. Is this Laura person really so unable to see through her? You could almost see steam coming out of Gia’s ears.
Random thoughts…
More of Pamela’s vague comments about her career on Wall Street. I wonder if the truth will ever come out? Amber and Courtnee are as spoiled and helpless as any of the others but seem to be generally good natured and therefore are not really that interesting to watch. Amber looks a little like Kirstie Alley. Those faces Jessica is constantly making make her look really unattractive. I thought it was hilarious how she got so excited at the prospect of a spray tan. I wonder if we will see Jacqueline at the American Idol tryouts if this show doesn’t bring her enough fame.
