Chicken Noodle Soup is a good option for me. That and 7-up. I never drink 7-up unless I’m sick.
Something very bland and not fatty/greasy.
Saltines!

Bouillon Cube soup or a small citrus fruit, some cold ice water, and once a day an Immodium pill until everything inside… calms down… :o

Beef bouillion and saltines, maybe some sherbet.
And absolutely no dairy for at least 48 hours.
I usually live for the next day on Koolaid with extra sugar. I have no idea why, but it’s all I want.
Oyster crackers and carbonated water.
For some strange reason, when I’ve been really sick for any length of time, I crave bread in mass quantities. Like big hunks of French bread, warmed up and slightly crisped. Mmmmmmm…
Hot and sour soup, even though it seems like it would be the worst thing in the world.
Then Marie Callander chicken pot pie.
Let’s see. I had Norwalk virus a couple years ago. Dry toast for starters, and also–because I am 99.7% northern European–lowfat milk. Eventually buttered pasta.
What I haven’t eaten since is whole chickpeas. Because that’s the last thing I ate *before *I got sick.
If it was bad, tea and toast. If it’s not so bad, potatoes or a cheese sandwich.
Cheez-It crackers (or Goldfish crackers - the cheddar ones) and a large glass of ice cold milk.
Jello.
I’ll see how it goes after that.
Plain crackers (saltines), maybe sorbet if we have any. Basically nothing that will be too challenging on the ol’ gut.
In the first class lounge in Beijing, waiting to come back to America…just barely over food poisoning.
Saltines for the win.
The BRAT diet – bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.
The only time I had an actual, diagnosed case of food poisoning (salmonella), it did several things - gave me severe stomach cramps, left me unable to venture more than 5 minutes from a restroom, got me a phone call and detailed survey from the CDC and caused me to miss 3 consecutive half days of work (I only take sick days when I literally cannot work). What it did not do was change my eating habits, at least as far as the foods I selected. I may have eaten less during that time, but the same stuff as normal. Odd, but there it is.
I don’t think I’ve had food poisoning per se, but when I get the stomach flu, I usually start with chicken soup (or even just broth) and move on to toast or grilled cheese or peanut butter sandwiches when I feel up to it. Crackers are also good, probably with some cheese on them.
When I’m up for eating a real meal, you can’t beat fried chicken with mac and cheese. I’d need the calories anyway; anything that induces vomiting or diarrhea is enough to get me to stop eating until I feel better. As a kid, I used to go days with nothing but 7-up and chicken broth.
I had salmonellosis back in January. after The Purge, and a day and a half of nothing but PediaLyte, I would have eaten the hell out of anything.
