Youtube-driven meta-art

I happened across this thoroughly clever, delightful gem the other day, in which a guy took a whole bunch of gear and music demos posted on Youtube and cut them together into a very smooth, convincing take on a funk song.

So I know that Youtube is full of these little mishmashes and interesting pieces of meta-art, and I know that Dopers know all about 'em. So give!

(And yeah, I know that’s Bernard Purdie on drums. That’s what hooked me at first. The guy’s a god.)

That was a really good song - and a theramin to boot! I liked it.

I just couldn’t help but think that someone has way too much time on their hands, though. This must have taken forever to put together.

Here’s his whole website on the project: http://thru-you.com/.

It’s nowhere near as involved as in the OP, but the (NSFW) Lil Jon Mashup cracks me up every time.

I listened to this exactly once and now it’s stuck in my head, I hope you’re happy now!

I became obsessed with this song back when I first heard it on Jonathan Coulton’s blog. It is amazing. So full of joy. The amount of creativity, effort and research of the artist is awe-inspiring. And it gives me chills just knowing all these disparate musicians from different times, from pros to little kids to everything in between, are now ‘collaborating’ on a single song.

To me, this project exemplifies the very best of the web.

My favorite is Lasagna Cat.
