You've Just Lost Your Citizenship...

Spain.

This one’s easy!

Choice 1 - Canada, either in Vancouver or Toronto, most likely Toronto.

Chpice 2 - China, Hong Kong specifically. I’ve never been there yet, but it seems to be the most exciting city in the world, and centrally located in Asia.

Sweden. Plus, my EU citizenship would let me live anywhere in the EU as well.

Portugal. I’m not sure why, but it’s been on my mind all century. I’ll definitely visit within the next few years. I’m thinking of taking a motorcycle trip through Spain & Portugal.

America would be an easy choise, as my wife is American. But it wouldn’t be my first.

South Africa is gorgeous, but a tad unstable still.

Countries like Ireland and the UK, I could easily live in. Belgium and Italy as well. I loved Mexico too, when I was there.

Can I pick only one??

All right. South Africa, for its beauty and diversity.

Ditto. Good social net, progressive politics, EU citizenship, lovely history, and extraordinarily attractive Spanish boys all over. How could you go wrong with Spain?

Outside of my mother and sister (and in-laws), all my family lives in Ecuador, so that would be a natural choice. Rumor has it that Quito has a film archive, so I may not have to change careers. My wife could send $ periodically so I wouldn’t have to worry too much about cost of living (a little goes a long way there). I would have to brush up on my Spanish, though.

Australia. I’ve always wanted to visit there. No need to learn a language, and from what little I can tell, I’d fit in with the people.

I already live in the outback here, so I’d seek out a small town/remote area Downunder and raise me some sheep.

South Africa would be another choice if the political climate there wasn’t so dangerous. I’ve met three South Africans and they are all fine folk.

My snap choice would probably be Canada. Vancouver, likely.

Lady Chance would choose Ireland in a heartbeat. Her father was born and raised there and she’s visited kin there a bit.

Course, I did once have an offer from the government of the Isle of Man to set up a business (tax free for 10 years!). I could do that fairly simply. Small place, though.

Costa Rica would be nice. Great beaches, affordable housing, fabulous wildlife everywhere you look.

Otherwise I’d think about Britain for the language, mild climate and proximity to mainland Europe.

If things were more settled there I’d also consider Israel.

I’d go to England in a heartbeat. Always wanted to live there.

Italy. No question or doubt.

If I lost my U.S. citizenship, I’d stay right where I am in Japan.

If I were deported by Japan, I’d probably move to either Australia or western Europe. Maybe Singapore.

Either Norway or Sweden or Denmark due to the history, high standard of living and general liberal attitudes (at least I’m told they are). Since I’m blonde and blue eyed and fair skin I could also probably blend in a bit better than in, say, England, where the short hairy swarthy Asiatic natives would probably eat me just for the salt.

New Zealand, I think, or Australia. Been to Australia and liked it a lot; they tell me NZ is also excellent, and has beautiful scenery.

I have dual citizenship—Australia and Canada. If they both kicked me out, i’d stay right here in the US. My wife’s American, and i’m about to get my green card application under way.

If i had to leave the US too, i’d strongly consider New Zealand, and Spain would also be high on the list. At the very least, it would give me a chance to practice my university-learned Spanish.

My Choices:

  1. Canada
  2. New Zealand
  3. Australia

Mainly because the language and culture are similar to my own. But also because there is general aviation in all of the above, so I could keep flying.

Hmm. I can’t really decide if I’d want to maintain my lifestyle as best I could or take it as an opportunity to really change things up.

Either New Zealand or Central Europe. While I’m sure my skills as a data entry clerk are quite amazing, and they are, I think I’d rather go back to school.

Australia. My biggest problem answering this is the part about working in the field in which I do today. Right now only 2 companies in world build large commercial airliners, my current employer and and company in France. I’m too old to learn a new language. The current model of airplane I work on now is very popular in the land of Oz so I am sure I could get a job working maintainance for one of the airlines. But again, there is that driving on the wrong side of the road thing…

New Zealand. I was there on vacation for 3 weeks and wish I could have stayed several months. Beautiful country.

If my husband vetos it, then it’s Canada. We love it there, and have some friends there.
