There was a time when he accused me of stalking him. Though I’m not interested in religous threads and he’s not interested in baseball threads, there was something that I don’t recall in which our interests overlapped, and I got shit from him about it on his assumption that I was simply after him.
Now I just don’t pay attention to him, which was probably the goal of the accusation. Fuck it. He’s not worth anyone paying attention to for any reason.
And that’s a wonderfully rational reaction given your, and many others’, assessment of him. A reaction that separates you from the posters under discussion, as DSYoungEsq states. No one says that anyone shouldn’t dislike him. We just don’t get why a group of others who dislike him pay so much attention to everything he does and feel it is their right or even their duty to pursue him into various threads in order to slap him around.

I must say that I’m surprised by the **Frank **thing. He doesn’t remember whatever it is, and neither do I. I really must say that I have nothing against Frank, though it is entirely possible that I insulted him at some point in the past. Things happen similar to that a lot in real life. A person says or does something that he later doesn’t even recall, while the person he said it to remembers it all like it was yesterday. The fact that I am worth nothing, based on an event someone can’t even recall, though, is remarkable to say the least.
He remembers being insulted by what probably seemed like an irrational attack by you. I’ve experienced it too Lib, when you ripped into me for having the … uh … audacity to criticize Obama (who I also supported and worked for and still think of as the best President in my memory, at least up to date) for what I saw as his silence in the face of anti-Arab stereotypes. I just didn’t take it personally and let it go. Yeah, you can do that to people and few of us can blame those who have reacted to those things with a persistent dislike. Frank’s lasting antipathy doesn’t surprise many of us, even if he does not remember the details of the interaction. And his not bothering with you from then on as a reaction seems like a rational response. It is these irrational stalker reactions that pisses many of the rest of us off.
Well, I do see the difference, but that was exactly what Liberal accused me of. He was not able to see that my differences with him resulted from our exchanges in threads where our interests were the same, and was (I think) assuming that I was following him around the boards. In my memory that is very typical of him; he has always assumed that those who criticise him have only ulterior motives.
While to some extent I’ll accept that that is so - that some who attack him are doing it simply for the joy of it - he has also acted as if those who have reasonable grievances with him are simply picking on him. I’ve no interest in searching his (close to 40,000) posts to show my point, but - nevertheless - Liberal has a history of acting as if he is being put upon and stalked.
Oh no need. The point is granted. Most of us know that is true. But as the saying goes, just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean that they are not out to get you. This time they really are.

I’m confused by your confusion (which may result from your cutting off the second half of my sentence).
They are not active participants in the actual discussions of the threads but notice that Lib is posting in it, then come in and put up posts whose sole content are Lib attacks and snark directed at him. They do not otherwise engage and have not been otherwise engaged in the discussion of the op.
I should always have been more calm, and more respectful of other people, as I am today.
Posting your seppuku on YouTube would do. 
No thread, and no forum, is an appropriate venue for such attack. That was, in my opinion, the lowest attack I have seen on anyone here.
I participate in this and other fora, I moderate two boards, one of which is almost as active as this one, and I still do not comprehend why some people have such passions in their dislike of some message boards posters. I can honestly say that I am more likely to remember the posters whose posts I enjoy than those I disagree with.
I remember years ago I participated in a thread that got really heated, insults where hurled, some hit me, and I can honestly swear that I don’t remember the posters that insulted me. Really. I just ignored them hard enough that I ended up forgetting them.
I really like this message board. I really do, it’s not important enough to add a new set of people to my black list. I reserve that for a distinguished few, my memory space is too precious.
I am not sure if that is a bad or a good thing. But them, I am yet to pit another poster, or be pitted myself. I like it like that.
It’s not really that difficult. All it took me was to search for Poly using your name in a post, which, it turns out,he’s only done three times, including this thread. I was able to figure out the main points in the contretemps by going back a page from Poly’s post and searching for a post by you, and then one more from Poly.
The whole thing went by so fast I would have missed it if I had blinked. To be candid, it seems that nearly three years of holding a negative view of him over it is kind of extreme.
That said, it is fine and upstanding of you to be agreeing with his OP now.
Thanks for the heads-up. This didn’t strike me as much of an example of good snark. He tried something, it didn’t work, he threw out a rather generic Parthian shot, and there’s an end of it.
Good snark needs to point out that I have a small penis or something.
