Zombie outbreak in Washington, DC

[Inspired by this real-world news about a hazmat investigation in downtown DC, perhaps five miles from where I’m sitting: http://dcist.com/2010/09/chemical_spill_causes_lockdown_of_f.php. Let’s have some fun with it!]

Hi, all - are any DCDopers working downtown today? Seems like your commute home is going to be an even bigger pain than usual - for the love of ford, don’t drive. Here’s what DCist is saying:

One of my old law school comrades, John Jay (yah, he gets jokes) works in Judiciary Square, and went out for a walk near Chinatown - he says the whole block is sealed off with dudes in hazmat suits carrying Very Large Guns. One of them said he had to stick around, but Jay’s been volunteering for the ACLU since before he could drive - that didn’t work very well. I love this city, but the cops just get weird about security sometimes.

BTW, if you are working around downtown, try not to get downwind of this block - Jay says his throat’s been bugging him since his walk. Probably nothing, but there’s always the chance some idiot actually spilled paint thinner or something - why chance it?

Meh. BTW, does anyone know if the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro station is still open? I’m supposed to hang with friends at the Gibson later - though, hell, I suppose I could spring for a taxi if I have to. Ford knows that no one goes to the Gibson to economize…

WTOP is reporting that nothing hazardous was found, and streets have been reopened.

Good! Glad it was nothing, then. Chinatown can be annoying enough without toxic chemical spills. It’s not normally that rowdy on a Tuesday evening, but I was just walking home from an early happy hour with a friend, and some asshole bit him, of all things. Crazy, right? Dude looked homeless - the cops shoved him into a cruiser surprisingly fast. Said they’d drive my friend to the hospital, too - though, come to think of it, I haven’t heard from him yet.

Meh. Probably didn’t charge his cell this morning.

Tom Tildrum, buddy, stay on the same page. It’s zombie time!

Ouch. I understand the zombie-fear.

Can they check the biter guy for rabies? Or to do that, do they have to cut his head open? I forget.
