OK, so I wasn’t a big fan when I first heard them - Mr. Horse-Drawn Carriage Driver - kinda funny.
But Mr. All-you-can-eat-buffet inventor cracks me up every time. “And if there’s gravy, well then everything’s going to be O.K. >>Thank GOD for the gravaaay!!!<<” Too damn funny.
Can I find these as audio files anywhere? I found the lyrics here, but no multimedia…
I have yet to hear any of these on radio, so I’m glad you pointed them out. I wasn’t too impressed by the buffet guy, but I laughed like hell at the “carriage driver”:
Coming soon are pink gorilla inflaters, used car salesmen and Taco Salad inventors.
Side note:
This satire series used to be known as “Great American Heroes.”
Then 9/11 hit.
On 9/12 we got orders to yank the spots immediately.
Firemen and policemen had become Great American Heroes.
Around January the series started again, this time introduced as “Real Men of Genius.”
Oh, god I LOVE these commericals! Every single one cracks me up every time. I love how they are so serious.
I wondered why they changed to Real Men of Genius…that doesn’t sing as well as Great American Heroes but I get it.
Here’s to you, Mr. Pro-Wrestling-Costume-Designer!
IMO, this is one of the best ad campaigns I’ve ever heard. I love it, it’s clever, the music is appropriately cliche, and it leaves you waiting for the next instalment. Hell, I’d buy a Bud just to support the commercials!
Slightly off topic, but has anybody heard the Quizno’s radio ads, “Unfair Matchups”? Don’t know if these are national, but my favorite is the university professor vs. the celebrity bodyguard in a spelling bee…
“Spell cumulonimbus”
“C-O-O…C-O. This is bullsh**! B-O-O-L, bullsh**!”
(For the record, I don’t know if I spelled it right here either.)
