Continuing with my idea of a semi-SDMB Anthology Project and after assembling almost all of the “ask the…” threads, I thought I’d make a topic getting everyone’s imput and opinion on the best threads of all time. Until we have 101 of them, to be exact.
Then, in about a month or so, in December (or maybe Jan; at a time when this thread is dropped down and possibly forgotten about), I’ll take all of the links and topics in this topic and put them in one OP.
So come one and come all and nominate a thread you think should be on this list. Link to it and tell us it’s name. If you think it was one of the greatest EVER that you’ve ever seen or read on here, by all means, post it.
All I ask is that you not be too greedy. Don’t put, like, 10 or 20 in your reply but rather allow others to have their opinions so we have a wide range of topics from the SDMB history. Only 1 to 3 thread nominations per person (unless you forgot one or two and really, really, really, really want to add it and see that nobody has yet).
Heck, I can think of at least 30 things from (hint hint) Remembering certain dates, to bar fights, to things strictly about males, to…well, many many more…
…But I leave it to you members to bring them into the light and nominate them. I have no doubt that, as long as it was one of the greatest topics on here, ever…that it will be mentioned.

Go on, give us some topic links that will will make us laugh, cry, think, or remember; that newbies and guests will love and enjoy and that everyone here would love another dose of. A truly great thread that you think is among the greatest of all time.
Oh, maybe someone could search and find that thread… um, it tends to get bumped on memorial’ day I think. Can’t remember who posted it originally, but a very wonderful tribute to those who have given their lives for others.
I wasn’t around then, but I’ve been searching. I can’t recall the link, but I believe it was called Can psychotic illness be diagnosed by posts on a message board, with amazing contributions by a poster named Phaedrus.
The Horror of Blimps is seriously one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. I could read it right now and be crying with laughter in a second. If Scylla is not making a living as a humor writer a la David Sedaris, there is no justice in the world.
My nomination is origin of the soon-to-be SDMB inside joke “you eat stupid food for breakfast” from the OP in Stupid little crotchspawn.
Getting all sentimental, my first nominee would have to be a thread that was, like many servicemen in World War II (and many other wars, for that matter), struck down in its prime: May 9 1971 - We Shall Remember.
Veblen’s ‘scathing cleverness’ jibe in the final post (perhaps that should be the ‘last post’ given the topic) provides the knock-out punch to what would undoubtedly have gone on to become a classic SDMB parody.
