Best of the Rest of the Top 40: The 2000s

As this poll series draws near its conclusion, the time has come to pick a winner for the most recent decade. These are the voters’ choices for best song of each year (with the margin in some years being a single vote, which just goes to show that everyone who ever told you one vote can’t make a difference was a lying scumbag and probably listened to the kind of music you hate the most of all.)

What’s your favorite?

Voted for Train, wanted to vote No Doubt but it is a cover of a 1980’s song, I want something that has the 2000’s feel to it. Don’t really care about the others, and Train was the only one I voted for in the polls.

Gnarls Barkley, “Crazy.” That’s one of the best and most iconic songs of the 2000s. Boggles my mind that it never made #1. Gorillaz “Feel Good Inc.” is also awesome. I’m a dolt, but I didn’t know that it featured De La Soul until I read this list. “Without Me” rounds out my top 3. The rest of the songs I could live without.

“Without Me” and “The Sweet Escape” were the highest-rated songs in their respective years in the world-famous Ponch8 Music Rating System.

Being a pretty big Eminem fan, I didn’t hesitate to vote for “Without Me,” but I also liked “Crazy,” “The Sweet Escape,” and “Use Somebody.” “Feel Good Inc.” is pretty good but was never really my cup of tea.

As this M.I.A. bitch is now finding out, there are consequences for disrespecting Kesha. “Paper Planes” is in dead-ass last place in the Ponch8 Music Rating System as a result.

Dunnn Duh Duh Duh Duh Dunnn Duh…Feel Good!

Sooooo good.

There are only two good songs here IMHO.

The first one is No Doubt’s It’s My Life but (1) it’s a cover and I decided in the 80s poll not to vote for covers, especially if the original is from another decade and (2) I like the original better anyway.

Gorillaz w/ De La Soul - Feel Good Inc.'s the winner, then.

Been a long time since I’ve heard Paper Planes until I saw it in this poll, and I found intriguing when it first came out. Now I can say it’s not a good song, she’s not a good singer, the lyrics are bad and the message is atrocious. I voted for it anyway.
