At least here in NC the governor is already running ads for his 2016 race. They are by an “outside group” wink, wink.

The 2016 Presidential race started the day after the 2012 election. Right now it’s jockeying for position on the Republican side between Paul and Cruz. There will be some others but they aren’t being too visible.
On the D side there are several of the smaller fish who want to grow big such as Martin O’Malley and Andrew Cuomo. However, they have to wait for Biden to formally bow out and he’s pretty openly keeping his options open. On the other hand, even Biden needs to wait on HRC. If she announces she’s running she’ll have both the Clinton and Obama machines behind her. God help anyone in her way.

“Machine” sounds so…mechanical. We prefer “fan club.”
Any chance HRC picks Biden to be her VP, so he won’t even have to pack up his desk?
Or here’s another idea: Pick Al Gore as her running mate, that way people can just reuse their old Clinton/Gore political paraphernalia.

Two reasons:

She’ll want to choose her own and is big enough that she can’t have a pick imposed on her by the party.

She’ll be choosing the next candidate - most likely - and choosing either Gore or Biden will mean that she WON’T be choosing the next candidate. She’ll view the VP pick as her opportunity to influence the party and politics for years after she’s done.
