I just passed 10 million points in the game of Rocket Mania I’ve had going for the last two and a half months.
Feel free to join in the cheering as I do my victory lap.

Cool! Congrats - you’ve gone a lot farther than I have.
The web version is a lot more fun now that the 10-level-limit has been removed. I tried out the “deluxe” version, but there was no way to shut off the annoying voice of the dragon. OK, so I’m thin-skinned, but that stereotyped Asian “Charlie Chan” voice crap really offended me.
I still remember being late for school due to getting a monster score at Space Raiders on the Spectrum. You couldn’t save in them days, no sir. Also, notice on the screenshot, the score only goes up to 6 figures. Once you scored over 999,990, the first character would turn to a weird blobby thing. I once got the first two characters to do this, meaning I must have scored over 10,000,000
Man, that game was good.
Damn, and here I was all smug the other day when I got around 1,500,000 points.
I play the downloaded game, the strategy version where you can store the game and come back to it (obviously). It’s great to have in another window for the wait while threads are loading, lulls in IM conversations, etc. And I keep my computer on mute most of the time, since I usually have either the TV or the stereo going when I’m on the computer, so I don’t have to listen to the freakin’ dragon. You’re right, though, it’s annoying as hell.
Woo hoo! 10 million points! I opened the game this morning just to look at my score. Colophon – part of the excitement was wondering if they’d have the “1” or not; it didn’t look as though there was room for it. I had a computer crash the game before last when I was at about 9.5 million points, so this is the first time I’ve broken that barrier.
Damn I’m in a good mood!
A couple of days ago I played the web version for the first time in a long time. I don’t recall my final score , but was surprised how many levels I was able to complete. Thanks for pointing out that the 10-level limit had been removed - that explains it. And although I may be in the minority, I (and my wife, too) like the way the dragon says “Get ready!”. I haven’t heard it in a while - how can it be turned on?
Great job Twickster! Aplause and tweet, tweeeet, tweeeeeet (my shrill whistle). Have a giant diet DrPepper on me!
