Well, I for one am pissed! I can’t believe that [insert comic’s name here] rated better than [insert comic’s name here], and [insert comic’s name here] shouldn’t have even been in the top 50, let alone the top 10. Oh, and where was [insert comic’s name here] on this list? These people are jokers! (pun intended).
Heh.
Seriously, I can say I honestly know a relative few of these 100, and I know these are all subjective. But, I’m glad to see Bill Cosby and Steve Martin in the top 10, both of whom I consider to be at the very top of what they do.
George Carlin has never really done it for me. But, like I said, that’s just me. Certainly his long career shows that there are a lot of people who really find him funny.
I think Dane Cook is pretty funny, though he hasn’t been around for very long so I guess he can’t qualify on the 100 Greatest Stand Ups of All Time. Conan 'O Brian is quite funny too, but he never did stand up, did he. I don’t think he really could, I think he is more of a host on a show, like he does then a stand up comedian.
Gallagher!? He’s on the list and Margaret Cho isn’t? I mean, I know her style isn’t for everybody, but come on! And as much as I love Woody Allen’s movies (well, his older ones, anyway), I’ve never thought much of him as a stand-up. Certainly not the fourth greatest stand-up of all time.
Alan King’s absence from the list would be an outrage, if a list of comedians could be considered an outrage, which it couldn’t be. But King is a heckuva lot funnier than most people on that list.
