1010011010 — a question, please...

This isn’t a rant, so if a mod wants to move it, fine. The only reason I chose the Pit is that I think I recall such member to member discussions happening here over the course of five years, and because I didn’t want to risk ruining Czar’s thread with this tangent. So, I’m not calling you out or anything, but just want you to clarify.

In this post, you identified yourself as an “apatheist”, saying that you “find questions of gods’ existance irrelevant and uninteresting”. Why, then, did you choose a user name that carries such obvious religious significance and baggage?

I’ve been whooshed. What does his name mean?

Regards,
Shodan

666 in binary. Maybe he chose it because he thought it was cool, rather than for any religous reasons?

Yeah, that had crossed my mind, but “cool” just didn’t seem to go with “irrelevant and uninteresting”. I’m hoping that maybe there’s a story behind it.

He may take after you, and change it to 11010

Wouldn’t that be 101001101?

nitpicker!

There actually is a word for those who are simply incurious or disinterested in the theistic question- it’s called “ignosticism.”

15,590 posts under your belt and it’s the first time I notice you?!?!.

That either must be close to a record, or my memory is failing me… again :frowning: .

Sigh.

Sorry about that. As usual, I don’t have anything significant to add to the thread so please carry on.
(And yes, you haven’t noticed me either. So, we’re even)

Erm, he used to be Libertatian

Not to worry. You haven’t missed much.

1010011010 is a joke from Futurama, from the episode The Honking, I believe. That’s what I thought of immediately when I saw his name. Could be wrong though.

ZJ

I think it’s been floating around on the Internet for a while.

The existance of gods is irrelevant and uninteresting.

The existance of religion is relevant and interesting.
Why 1010011010 specifically, though? Meh, it looks nice.

So, do you have a position? (are you an atheist?) Or are you just trying to sound ‘deep’?

Thanks, 1010011010. May I call you 110 for short?

I personally prefer “apatheism” and regularly identify as an “apatheist”.

Heh, the only time I saw the word “ignostic” was when a Fundie compared it to the word “ignoble”. Yeah, I thought it was silly, too.

Is that the door number to Bender’s apartment?

No, that’s 00100100, ASCII for “$”
