11:11 and other fun clock things

No synchronicity is The Police not Rush

I know you! You’re the Mole from the Ministry!

Uri Geller finds 11:11 fascinating, and even devotes a page on his website to it:

I always seem to be looking at the clock when it hits 9:11. Makes me very very sad.

8:08 is called Bob O’Clock at my house.

Love it!

Although I glance at the time throughout the day, I always seem to catch 12:34.

Me, too. And that got me going on the OP. 10:01 has a nice symmetry, but it doesn’t get me as excited as 12:34 and 11:11.

I can’t get over Bob O’clock, though. That is cool.

I absolutely relate to this. I even had a weird compulsion for awhile where every time I’d see this on the clock I’d haveto sing the line of the song “. . . it’s 11:59 and I want to stay alive”.

There was also a long stretch of time where I’d wake up in the middle of the night and the clock would always be on 2:17*. Obviously there’s some reasonable explanation for it, but I don’t know exactly what that might be. I am certain I wasn’t dreaming all those times. Maybe because I expected to awaken at that time somehow my body got able to sense when that time came around? I dunno but to this day, if the clock is anywhere close to 2:17, I’ll avoid looking at it until I’m sure that the time has passed.

*For anyone who doesn’t know, 217 is the room number of the haunted guestroom that figures prominently in Stephen King’s “The Shining”.

Wouldn’t “Bob O’Clock” make a great Doper Name?

Yes. Bob O’Links, too.

1:50

Of course. Thanks. The analog picture in my head didn’t convert to digital correctly.

I am an 11:11 Freak as well. I have been since I was a teenager. I have only met two people IRL who are as strange about it as I am. One of them, calls me on the 11th of a month quite regularly.

When I see 11:11 I feel like I get to make a wish, especially if I see it both times during the day. And if I do see it both times, I feel sort of blessed. I know crazy!
There is a ton of other weird stuff I associate with it too, but I won’t go on and on.

OK, just on a bit. I wanted to get married on 11/11 but it wasn’t going to come up on a Saturday for a long time, so I did the next best thing and picked 10/11.

1755 is an important year in Acadian history.

Yes, a few of my friends are quite into the whole 11:11 thing. They make wishes whenever they catch it, even going as far as saying they’re “lucky” to have caught that time.

I have never noticed 11:11 but I do however always see 2:40 both am & pm. As well as seeing it in reciptes, my friend’s house adress, my ex boyfriend’s licence plate, my mother’s boyfriend’s licence, my younger’s brother’s school gets out at that time. I don’t look at the clock much throughout the day, but when I do it’s usually 2:40.

I also can predict what time it is within three minutes of the time. It’s rather odd, but kinda neat.

I never miss 13:37

This a bit off-topic but since it’s time related I’ll risk it.

Many years ago when I was learning the constellations and the major star names, one of my books stressed a “star clock” where you could tell time at night by using some star pairings (like the “pointer stars” in the Big Dipper that point to the North Star). See this link for more details.

A friend and I managed to locate such star pairings on every hour line in the sky, so that we wouldn’t be limited to being able to see the North Star if it were obscured by something like clouds or “townglow” or trees. The objective was to have as many pairings high in the sky as we could manage. But keeping up with them was enough of a chore that I managed to forget the whole thing in no time.

Just mentioning the whole thing to see if others have had similar fun and excitement.

Let’s see who can post to this thread the closest to 11:11 on the clock.

For reference my computer clock is reading 9:52 AM as I click on “submit.”

Ding!
