The most key thing for excercise too is enjoying doing it.
Heres my reccomendations for spicing up running:
Run with friends
Run at a track
Get some new running clothes
Go for a new route
Register for a race (this is awesome motivation)
Speedwork
Join or start a running club
Take a week off, or try something else for a week (A hike worked great for me)
Get some new tunes if you run with an mp3 player
Well I did not do well today. Was at a party and had some sweets. But my feeling is that you life is still for living and you can treat yourself once in a while, so tomorrow I will get right back to it.

or if you prefer…

Hey now, don’t worry. You are working hard and if you indulge a little at a party, it ain’t the end of the world. Tomorrow is another day! Don’t hang your head or beat yourself up! You have done great and will continue to be A LOSER!!
Don’t wait until tomorrow. Do it now. Just because you lapsed earlier, don’t make it any worse by doing more naughty eating tonight. Treat yourself once in awhile, but don’t forget the long-term goal.
Basically the same for me. Including co-workers asking about what kind of diet I’m on. I say I’m on the “eat less than I would like diet, and exercise now and then.”
If I elaborate more, it’s that I’m on the “track absolutely everything I ingest in a database and limit daily calories to 750-1000 less than the amount required to maintain my weight diet.” Also trying to eat generally healthier (more veggies, less fast food - although this is also good for my wallet). Exercise is swimming once a week for an hour, and walking for an hour once a week (maybe two or three times per week, if the weather cooperates).
First day in Chicago. I met up with an old friend and ate a large lunch, but in the evening until a few minutes ago, I walked a good 10-15 miles. I had a Salad for Dinner. It is a good start to my stay here for the week. If I keep up the walking part, I should get back under 200 again. It was 201.5 at 5am.
My friend immediately said, “Damn Jim, you lost a lot a weight”. Good feeling hearing that.
MixieArmadillo: On Friday, I caught myself talking up diets and lifestyle change and exercise and trying to explain why Low carb diets are just a start and not a long term solution. I realized I am in danger of becoming like the annoying but admiral AA members that expound at the drop of the hat about quitting alcohol.
Good Luck everyone and keep being big losers, I know I am enjoying being a big loser.
Honestly, I’d never be able to stick with any eating plan long-term, and I’m not nearly organized enough to accurately count every calorie that goes into my mouth–so I just aim for paying a lot of attention to enjoying my food, only eating until I’m satisfied, making good choices, and staying active. All things I feel are good habits to learn and things I can do for the rest of my life… and it seems to be working well so far. 82 down as of Friday, and I’ve never felt better. Woot!
That’s good - but sometimes, people say ‘I blew it already, in for a penny, in for a pound’ sort of thing. That’s destructive and I was hoping to help you avert it. So yay for sleep!
I just had a thought - what are you all doing with the clothes that you have shrunk out of? A couple of years back (pre-pregnancy) I gave away all of my stuff that was too big. I have more to get rid of now.
I found a nice consignment store near my house and consigned them. I made over 100 bucks, which wasn’t too bad. There were some items the consignment store wasn’t interested in (for various reasons) and I took those items to Good Will.
Hi newcrasher , I have to work on this too - it’s all about listening to your body isn’t? Last night we had a beef stew (god it was good), all very low fat with a ton of vegetables (7 servings I believe). It was lovely but I’d finished about 60% of it and was getting full - so I put the rest in tupperware and kept it for my lunch. I do this often and it really works - also, you end up spending way less on lunch and you get food that is healthy, low fat and you know everything that went into it!
