Bears up. Who will they grab? Probably Meredith just to fucking piss me off.
You can do your happy dance Omni. Nice pick.
You know whose draft I really like so far?
Giants.
Bastards.
Nope. I just don’t like him at all. The pass defenses in the Big 12 were a complete joke last season and this guy doesn’t really impress on film or in the workout room. If you have so-so film against sub-par competition and lack top end speed and prototypical size you aren’t going to be very highly rated.
I’m just hoping the consensus on this guy is more accurate than my take. I’m frightened by how every “expert” completely disregards how miserable the pas defenses in the Big 12 were. Maycock was just breaking down the film on him and the “good plays” he had were essentially blown coverages where he had 10 yards around him in all directions. In a goal line situation where he had the first example of actual coverage he blew it.
I’m not thrilled, but I’m not sure who would have been better.
While the pass defenses weren’t the best, I like Iglesias’ ability to get separation and his hands. That, and he’s improved every year since he began playing as a freshman, make me think he’ll have a good NFL career. He’s not a true #1, more of a possession guy, but he’s good value for a compensatory pick.
Bears have another pick coming up and we probably have to address Safety. Clemons or Courtney Greene are probably my first choices. Of the two I lean towards Greene because Clemons has a habit of lowering his head to deliver a blow and forgets to wrap up and actually tackle…like the crappy Safeties the Bears already have.
I think you’re being awfully charitable to the Big 12 defenses. This guy won’t beat out Davis, Bennett or Hester for a position and he doesn’t really give us the guy we needed. This is similar to the Eagles complaint about taking Maclin. We desperately needed size, speed and ability to defeat a press which suffocated us last season.
Sigh
And the Bears take a no-name DE out of Texas. Lovie Smith really needs to let go of his fetish for Big 12/Texas/Oklahoma guys. The guy has the right size but I’ve seen no film on him.
Apparently you have to start assuming that the Bears will do the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they claim to want to do.
:smack:
ETA: Hopefully one of those Safeties will last until #119.
Packers pick in one. Meredith is still on the board. I’m preparing to be sad when TT either trades down or grabs some small school project.
[sub]Meredith, Meredith, Meredith[/sub]
I like the Bengals draft so far. Smith is a roadgrading tackle, Maulagua (sp?) is a studly LB, Michael Johnson is a freak of nature, Chase Collins is an absolute beast as a pass-catching TE (has an awesome stiffarm, too), and now we get Luigs with our fourth pick, a very good collegiate center.
What’s not to like? Sunny day in the Queen City!
Yup…small school project. Heh. Was he really better than Meredith?
I see 4 guys with HUGE question marks. Especially the defensive guys who both slid far past where their measurables indicate. Scouts have big questions about their ability to produce.
Fuck.
They went with the right position, but got the wrong guy. Lang is a small school project (surprise surprise) who doesn’t have the athleticism to cut it as a LT in the NFL but could, if lucky, work inside. Now we have approximately 1,232,387 of those kinds of guys on the roster.
Still, he’s a Packer. I hope they know more than I do. Which is quite likely.
NOOOOOOOO!!!
There goes my 5th round, top secret, sleeper guy that I loved. Victor Butler is a bit undersized, but should be able to make the transition from college DE to a great rush OLB in a couple years.
#!%^^ #%#@%@# %#@%$.
I’m off to shower and go buy some paint.
Panthers need O line depth, I think they take Meredith here.
WTF? While they do need some depth behind Williams and Stewart, they have bigger needs. Maybe they want him at FB?
There’s been talk of converting him to WR.
Yeah, with his size, FB is out. Maybe they’ll try him at returning kicks, they need someone there.
One more chance for the Bears to do something about Safety. Lets see…
Oh brother…this is not going well at all. D.J. Moore, a slow undersized CB who can’t fill in at Safety. So we’re taking backups and developmental guys when we don’t have starters at some positions?
