There’s probably a converted college QB on the roster somewhere. In the meantime, Jeff Garcia is available.
That article referred to last weeks game. He should be ready this week.
I agree in general, and though I think Adrian Peterson is a monstrous stud, I still think drafting any RB in the first round is a waste. Surely the dropoff (if there even is one) to Chris Bown in the second round that year wouldn’t be enough to justify missing out on Patrick Willis or even Darrelle Revis.
Though to be fair I’m biased as a Giants fan. Ahmad Bradshaw was taken in the 7th round (~250th pick, damn near Mr. Irrelevant ) in that same draft, Jacobs in the 4th round in 2005, and they even found Ryan Grant as an undrafted free agent before they traded him to Green Bay. All in stark contrast to their last first-round RB, Ron Dayne. Gah!
I remember Me Kiper always used to talk about how you shouldn’t draft a RB until the 3rd or later, and I have to say I agree.
EDIT: In looking more closely at the 2007 draft, if you needed a stud WR, Sidney Rice was the best you could get since Calvin Johnson was alreday taken in the first. So yeah, if you wanted a stud RB / WR combo, you couldn’t do better than Peterson and Rice (or maybe Steve Smith 2.0) with your first two picks.
I’ve only seen two Lions games this year (the first game and the most recent game) and I’ve got to say that Stafford looks very good, especially for a second year player. Of course, his being injured makes accurately evaluating him problematic at best. We still (clearly) need some help on the offensive line. Also, let’s not forget that Ricky Williams was tagged with “injury risk” after his first two years in the league, then didn’t get injured again (at least not seriously).
Also, the Lions team is so clearly better than its most recent incarnations. There’s actually a chance with this offense. The big problem is still the secondary, though. Next would be the linebackers, and after that, the offensive line.
Major brain fart. I saw Tennessee drafted a RB in the 2nd round named Chris and mixed him up with Chris Johnson. Johnson was drafted the following year in the first round. And that second rounder wasn’t even Chris Brown, it was Chris Henry. Double brain fart.
Kinda undermines my point.
Al Harris cleared waivers. He says he’s negotiating with several teams. We’ll see where he ends up.
The Vikings are reportedly one of the teams interested, which doesn’t surprise me given their problems at the corners.
20 internet points to Ganster Octopus for: “Seriously? Al Harris will be picked up this week, guaranteed.”
It’s Miami. The Dolphins reportedly signed Al Harris. I’m glad he’s not going to the Vikings or the Lions.
With the improvement in offensive linemen and the increased pressure on the opposing QBs , the Lion secondary is showing improvement. They had to keep a college track star under coverage for 8 or 9 seconds. It was a difficult task.
Agreed. I’m happy for Al that he’s getting another shot, and I hope he’s still got something left in the tank…but I’m also glad that he’s with a team we don’t have to play again until 2014.
I agree, a good pickup by the Dolphins, too. I know some folks were doubtful he would be picked up, but this guy was playing at a high level when he got hurt and had just come off a pro bowl season.
Jenn Sterger met with NFL officials today.
Bret already says he will retire. He may be hoping it will keep the league off his back. If he gets a suspension it would be the same as ending his career.
Ugly day for the Vikings yesterday. The bears looked like the superior team in nearly every facet of the game. It could be they just wore the proper cleats…in addition to the 2 INTs resulting from Vikings’ receivers slipping, I recall seeing AP look like his feet were stuck in the mud after catching a short pass over the middle.
Hester killed us with his 2 big returns, and in watching the replays I saw some truly excellent blocking by the bears’ special teams. Reversing the field like that deflated me as a fan; I’m sure the Vikings’ D felt the same.
Our season hopes have been whittled down to praying for a 6-1 finish and a wild card berth. It’s been a truly disappointing year. 9 straight road losses after the huge win in Lambeau last year.
The huge news from this weekend for the NFC North is that the Packers didn’t lose anyone to injury. Sure it was a bye week, but we’ll take what we can get.
The Bears looked impressive in a big win over the Vikings. I wish I could’ve watched more of the game, but even just reading about Favre and the Vikings problems put a smile on my face. But, just between you and me, the Bears are starting to scare me a bit. Sure they still can’t run the ball, and sure Cutler still makes stupid throws, but their Defense and special teams have played outstanding and will keep them in most games.
The Packers now have a couple of tough road games, at the Vikings and at the Falcons. These next two weeks should be interesting.
Talk to me after your team has lost 24 consecutive road games twice in a decade.
Wow 6-3… and i tell you nobody nationally gave the Beloved any shot at all of doing this well… I guess Lovie isn’t the complete idiot some have made him out to be. I like the fact they started cracking the whip…sitting tommie harris… cutting Mark Jackson… its time to put that shit on the field… one more with each of the division… its still so up in the air… could go 3-0 could go 0-3… one thing is they’ve been in every game this year… Bear DOWN!!!
The Lions lost to an 0-8 team 14 to 12. It was even more boring than the score would indicate. The Lions were offside a mere 8 times in the first half. When the Lions started to move receivers dropped 3 open passes in a row. They still got the TD. Then threw the tying 2 point conversion pass out of the end zone. How does that happen?
Jeez, I almost feel sorry for you Daytwah Loin fans. But I don’t because I am a Bears fan, and am glad that your team chokes on the enormous donkey balls it continually sucks.
Perhaps you could move and change allegiances? Then perhaps we could be bros.
Right. Being a Bears fan is just like being a Lions fan.
