2010 NFC North Discussion Thread

Agreed. Detroit’s defensive line, even missing Vanden Bosch, was nasty as hell. And, the offensive line was good enough to keep the one TD drive going.

The playcalling on the Packers’ last drive was head-scratching. They were making good progress down the field with 10-yard patterns. Why, when you get within the 30, do you decide to try an off-tackle run, against a D-line which you haven’t been able to penetrate all day, using Brandon Jackson, who’s been a disappointment all year? And then, on 4th and 1, why, oh why, do you throw the home-run ball?

Grrrrr. More evidence that McCarthy is a maroon.

That pretty much killed the Packers wild card hopes, IMO. they could still win the division, of course, but I don’t really see them beating the Pats in Foxboro next week, even with Rodgers, so it is looking bleak.

I tend to agree. They need to win out, and get some help…or need a ton of help, if they don’t win out. Possible, but not likely, with Rodgers at the helm. If he misses even one game, I think they’re officially toast.

Yow, I was hoping the Bears would do better than that. You would think that the Bears’ defensive speed would match up well with the Patriots’ dink and dunk passing, but the snow just cancelled the D’s ability to do anything but get burned all up and down the field. The Bears may be exposed now unless they can figure out a way to make better plays in the snow, in December – you know at Soldier Field.

Fortunately, The Packers lost to the Lions in a very exciting (zzzzz) 7-3 game. Thank you Arron for not sliding after getting the first down.

After watching the video of the Metrodome collapsing, I’m sure I’m asking the same important question that everyone else is thinking: The roof may have collapsed, but are the speakers that the Vikings use to artificially pump up the crowd noise OK? I’d hate to see those things damaged.

Boy, you ain’t kidding, IG. I love how all the sports reporters are talking about how the move to Detroit was a huge boon to the Giants because of the crowd noise. “Oh, they mean the speakers’ noise,” I said to myself.

The fans are loud, but not that loud. And we moved a couple of years ago, so now I sit directly under one of those speakers. Ick.

Ford Field is not a very loud stadium. The Rolling Stones love playing Ford Field because of the acoustics, and I don’t know if that means the crowd noise doesn’t get to the field, or that the fans haven’t had any reason to lustily make noise for any reason at all, but it’s like going to church. During a game, you can hold a normal conversation with the person next to you when the other team’s offense gets into your red zone.

There must be a lot of conversing going on during Lions games.

It looks like the division race is over, by the way. Congratulations to the Bears. They don’t exactly look like a powerhouse, but they’re the best of a bad division and the only team from the Norris that will even make the playoffs.

I would say the Packers still have a chance (if Rodgers is healthy), but only if the Vikings can beat the Bears next week. And after last night I don’t have much hope for that.

I wouldn’t bet on us to beat a college team right now.

Vikings: Karma’s a bitch.

According to Matt Flynn, Rodgers is out and Flynn is starting.

What a ridiculous attempt at a joke that is. The Metrodome collapsing is somehow “karma” for Percy’s migraines? WTF?

If that’s the case, the Patriots will win by 50.

The Vikings have signed Patrick Ramsey, by the way, and he might well play on monday. T-Jack is out, Favre is not likely to be ready yet, and Joe Webb has a hamstring injury. The Vikings are completely out of quarterbacks.

This game against the Bears will also be played on the University of Minnesota campus at TCF stadium (home of the Gophers). It’s will be the first Vikings home game played outside since 1981, and it’s going to be cold. Could this season get any more bizarre for the Purple?

TCF stadium might not work out:

I wonder why not just go to Lambeau (if TCF doesn’t work out)? It’s basically neutral ground for both.

Yahoo pools has you pick exact scores for SNF and MNF – I’m calling this one as 66-3.

'Nuff said.

There’s wrong. There’s dead wrong. And then there is Dio wrong.

I understand homerism, but, man, some folks simply can’t look past their team at all.
