Oowwwooowww! My whole face hurts; thanks Mrs. Dentist. Really thanks because I have two bad teeth going to get crowns and be less trouble (sorta).
Plus; we win! Woot! My county has the highest unemployment in the state, for the fortieth year in a row, but this time it’s all the way at 27% We’re number one, we’re number one!
I don’t know Swampy; it seems wrong to speak ill of the dead. That poor Mr. Gonzalez and the tragedy with the swing and the third Mrs. Gonzalez runnin’ off with her own step-son!
I believe we should consult Pastor Travis down to the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Such a pleasant young man; now he’s stopped with those snakes. You know him; he was ever sich good friends with Bubba, always willin’ to help test out new, erm, gew gaws and doo dads at the Emporium.
So, I went to EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) because the location closest to me is closing and that means sales. I bought Sweetie some socks for work (thick, sweat wicking, warm and comfy for his outside shows) and the Terrible Iggy Dammit ate one of them so I wanted to get him some new ones.
The nice sales guy pointed out that the EMS brand is the exact same thing as the special brand I got last time but it costs $2 more. Of course, it also has 2 pairs instead of one. So, I got him a pair of pairs of socks for $24. They were also 30% off, which was super sweet.
While in there, I decided to look at bags because I need a new bag for school. I almost got a North Face bag but the sales guy pointed out everything that was wrong with it and explained why the EMS bag was better. In this case, the EMS bag was also $30 more expensive but it was also worth it. I ended up getting the EMS bag and I love it. Then he said that if I happened to have my school ID on me, I’d get 20% off the bag instead of the normal 10% from the closing sale. So, I did and I ended up getting an $85 bag and $24 socks and a $10 usb car charger adapter and it only cost me $90.
I stopped at the library to attempt to make good on my resolution (to learn how to take notes and study). I got 4 books on taking effective notes and studying so that you actually benefit from it (my studying attempts have always ended up with me failing so I stopped doing it). I was able to finish Quinsig with a 3.97 and very little work. I don’t expect UConn to be so easy. Gotta be proactive if I’m gonna get into grad school!!
Well, I did end up taking my sweet boy to the vet. It’s a good thing I did because he’s got pancreatitis again. They gave him antibiotics, anti-nausea meds, fluids, and a few other things, too. Too look at him, he still looks quite spry, but then you notice that he spends about half his time licking the roof of his mouth which is a sign of nausea. No food for the rest of the day and then the infamous bland diet after that.
Now we’re both home just lounging around.
I’ve dragged out a bunch of silverware stuff so we can take pictures of it to send out with applications. When my dad gets ready we’re going to do that. Rah.
That nice young man from the National Guard now lives in California where he’s makin’ movin’ pictures. He still just as sweet as tea! He sent me a couple of his movin’ pictures. Now, my eyesight ain’t what it used to be, so I might just be mistaken but it looks like all them movin’ pictures all star just men and I swan they appear to be jist nekkid as jaybirds! They shore do seem to really like each other though. I’m glad to know he has him some good friends way out there.
A[sup]2[/sup] indeed Pastor Travis and Bubba is jist real good friends. I think it’s so nice how Pastor Travis goes over to spend the night with Bubba ever time Jose goes out of town jist so poor Bubba don’t git all lonely and scairt at night. And yer so right about how good he is to help out with inventory whenever a new shipment of geegaws and doodads comes in down at the Emporium. Why I hear he spends just hours and hours back in that store room with Bubba goin’ over the inventory. They say sometimes Pastor Travis gits so excited over takin’ inventory he just screams and moans and hollers for the longest time!
Well, I heard tell, that Pastor Travis he jus’ got the spreeit over them geegaws and doodads. I think that Emporium must be a real inspirin’ type o’ place. Lawd knows the poor man could use some inspriation, why, look at poor ol’ Milliebelle Dixon… poor critter, She’s been settin’ her cap for the Pastor ever’ since her husband George died, rest his soul, and he hadn’t payed her no more mind than if she’s been a fly… well as my Memaw used to say… fool me once…
I think my internal clock has been set right - yay! Three days in a row, I’m awake and more or less alert before noon. yay!
Sad to report that last night’s quiche wasn’t very good. I used rolled-up pie crust and it was very bland and dry, plus it split when baked, and the quiche-y goodness leaked out. And I used less cheese than I usually do - that was a mistake. Oh well. Plus the cake fell like the proverbial lead balloon. When I took it out of the oven, it was way high, but after a few minutes of cooling, it just crashed to half its height, and it’s really dense and bland. This is the same cake recipe I’ve been making since I was a teen. I’ve never had it fail so spectacularly. So I guess Jan 5 is cursed, huh?
Which reminds me - tomorrow is my mom’s birthday! She’ll be 78 - I need to send her an ecard or 4…
We’ve been zipping thru The Tudors on Netflix - 2 episodes a night lately. Last night, Anne Boleyn lost 8 pounds the hard way. I don’t know how historically accurate the series is - I expect some of it is speculative - but it’s really well done. For me, the toughest part has been keeping track of who’s who, especially among the young, similar-looking bearded men and the pretty blonde ladies in waiting. Still, I do recommend it if you’re interested in a 16th century soap opera!
Today I’ll be taking **FCD **back to an AT&T store - he isn’t getting web access on his new phone and he won’t call and ask how to do it. He’d rather stand around in a store and wait for someone to help him. So I’m going to drop him off, then run to WalMart and pick up the storage boxes I ordered and (probably) cancel the order for the vacuum cleaner - I haven’t gotten a status update in a week - not even to tell me it’s back ordered. So screw it, I’ll buy one off the shelf somewhere. No plans other than that.
Welcome back, gt! What did you bring us?? And I believe the agreement is that any Mumper who hits a big lottery will host a mega-Mump-fest, including transportation for participants. When I hit it big, I’ll party with youse guys, but I’m not supporting your collective butts.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 34 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 68 for the day and sunny. Not too shabby for Winter.
Rosie glad you made it to chorus. Like gt said, you’ll be back in shape in no time.
Welcome home gt! I assume you are sound asleep in your very own bed as I post.
Tonight is Epiphany Party night. Always a good time. Everybody brings a munchie to share and whatever one might want to drink. I have a cheese ball (cheeseball?) and fancified crackers to take and, of course, and adult beverage. We’re bringin’ some beerververages to share cause we’re such nice people.
Pearl that Milliebelle is so man hongry! Of course she bein’ a Doodwaddle by birth she would be. They’s all that way, ever one of ‘em! She should know by now that Pastor Travis has a special call to the ministry of helpin’ young adult men find their way to the Lawd. I can’t begin to count the number of young men he’s had over to the parsonage, sometimes all night long, in his effort to turn them from their heathen ways. I hear tell sometimes they’s lots of shoutin’ comin’ from the parsonage at night. I reckon he must be performin’ exorcisms. Also, a lots of ‘em must have some kinda rash cause Pastor Travis has a standin’ order for a case of baby oil a week over to the Buy A Lots store. He’s such a good soul that Pastor Travis!
Now that that’s out of the way, I shall go find more caffiene and feed rumbly tummy. Then irk purtification must commence, alas.
Productive morning so far. I’ve finished sanding the stairwell, swept up the dust, and tidied the kitchen. **FCD **is awake and in the shower, so I shall head back there to wait in line. Sanding is dusty work.
We’re supposed to see 61° today - in January - in Southern Merrylande! Weird.
If’n it’s that warm in Merrylande in January then the Apocalypse must be upon us!
A co-irker is back today. He has gout. It looks painful as no doubt it is painful. I have told him that if he needed sump’n to buzz me and not walk around so much. He’s apparently decided to take me up on it cause he does buzz from time to time. I don’t mind it cause well, it hurts to watch him walk. Really. Poor guy.
Swampy, Yeah, they MUST have a rash, cos’, you know, Janey Mae Hansford,
that nice young thing that answers the phone for Doc Shoemacher, after Doc Higginbottom “retired” ( although if you ask me, I always thought it was strange how that man lef’ town in the dead of night, and ever’ stray cat in town dissapeared right along with him. But then I am not the type to spread gossip.) Anyways, Janie Mae told me that Doc says that they have a standing order for [del]auntibio [/del] [del]antie[/del] pink pills and anti itch cream too, only she wadn’t s’posed to tell me on account o’ the Hippo law or SOMEthing which I really don’t see what a hippo’s got to do with it. Ever’ proper lady likes to hear the news, after all. Well, I must get down to the Piggly Wiggly, they are havin’ a scratch & dent sale.
I got to clean house, go the the sto’, and bake a pineapple casserole for tomoow for church. Hopefully I will have time to nap too, I went to bed at a ridiculous hour. Moooooooom, that’s frustrating, I hate when I wanna make something like that, & it turns out with fail. However, if it’s any consolation to you, you inspired me to make oven omlette this week, which is kinda like quiche with no crust.
First load of laundry is done, second is about to go in, I have my new glasses and am still deciding if I like them on me. I can see really well with them, which is a definite plus, but I think they may be just a bit too dark.
Am starting to feel like I need a nap. Am drinking peppermint tea instead.
