2012 Fantasy Football - general discussion

Jesus Christ. Who IS proven in your eyes in FF? I showed you a team that was very similar and you poo-poohed it. I think the thing you are missing in FF is the intangibles that come into play every year. The players on your bench that end up as starters, or the rookie or waiver wire guy that ends up saving your season.

Don’t get overconfident because of that!

10-Team Auction League

This league has money attached but its basically all pride since we’ve been playing together for over 10 years. Only trade I know is coming is me sending Titus Young elsewhere for a more viable RB option. Understanding that Mendenhall and Witten are out, I can’t really complain when they cost me $4 total (3 for Witten).
QB Tom Brady
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
RB Ahmad Bradshaw
WR Mike Wallace
WR Victor Cruz
TE Brent Celek
FLEX Miles Austin
D/ST Texans D/ST
K Garrett Hartley
BE Jason Witten
BE Titus Young
BE Alshon Jeffery
BE Sidney Rice
BE Coby Fleener
BE Andy Dalton
BE Rashard Mendenhall

just a quick heads up. If you want in on the SDMB Pick 'em, survival, and salary cap leagues, you need to get your entries in before the game starts tomorrow. If you want in on the SDMB Yardage Pool League, you can post your pick before the relevant game.

Sorry,** Hamlet**. This came off as unnecessarily harsh.

I would not do it. Richardson has not practiced since he had his knee scoped. There are rumors that the injury is more serious than originally reported. Then again, Ingram has been a little fragile himself, so ymmv.

Speaking of injuries, Adrian Peterson may not play in week 1. I have him as my feature back, but I think he’s going to ride my bench this week. I’ll start Reggie Bush and Ingram (moving up from flex), and add Anquan Boldin to the flex spot unless I hear good news on AP.

No. I guess I’d rather have Ingram as a flex only, not as a #2.

Love it when my #1 pick (#1 overall) gets hurt between the draft and the first game, and will be a game time decision… Arian Foster, I’m looking at you.

Yeah…I have Ben Tate on my roster, and I’m tempted to start him, but sure as I do, Foster will go and have a career day while my guy rides the bench…

I have Tate too, but unless I start them both I’m sure I’ll choose incorrectly…

Same for Lynch. ;( of course it was only a second rounder, but still annoying.

Hey everyone, looking for some last minute Start/Sit advice for my money league.

I have a couple flex spots to choose and I am struggling to decide between Reggie Wayne, Demarius Thomas, Malcolm Floyd and Shonn Greene and Dywane Bowe.

The textbook play is to start Greene and Wayne, based on projections. I’m not a big fan of Greene against the Bills, I think the Jets might go 3 and out every possession, and I worry about Wayne against the Bears with a rookie making his first start, even if he is Luck.

Thomas is the guy I should go with based on draft position and he’s got Peyton Manning, but Peyton might be as shaky of a QB as Luck in week 1. Plus they are against the Steelers.

My gut tells me to start Floyd. When he’s healthy he’s pretty good and without VJax he could be River’s go-to. At least in week 1 when he’s a 100%, Floyd seems like a great play against a Oakland secondary with a bunch of question marks.

Really hoping to get some opinions before tomorrow.

I’d go with Thomas. Peyton is dying to show the world he’s back. Denver at home. Probably no James Harrison for the Steelers, which throws off their whole D.

Need 2 guys, what would be your second choice?

I decided I had to pull the trigger, and moved to get Kevin Smith, With Richardson and Lynch both being so damn questionable for the first couple weeks. I did grab Turbin but that just means I have 2 half-RBs now.

Dammit ,how was I stupid enough to I get myself into a situation where my top three drafted RBs will possibly all be on the bench for most of week 1?

I’m starting Bowe as my WR3.

I didn’t see this earlier. My gut seems to agree with yours, though. I don’t like Shonne Green at any point, but especially against the Bills. I also think DeMaryius isn’t going to be Peyton’s favorite, and Ike Taylor just may shoot him in the parking lot before the game to make up for last year’s playoff win. I’m not sure about Bowe, I think his value comes from numerous catches, which may not happen with a defense that may avoid a blowout and a healthy Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis. And I too like Malcolm Floyd, especially against that iffy secondary in Oakland.

If your opponents lineup is solid and you think you need big numbers, I’d go with Floyd and Wayne. If you think you just need a low floor to win, I’d go with Wayne and Greene simply because of touches. Good Luck.

ETA: It looks like Collie is inactive, so that too might help Wayne’s value.

I’d go with Wayne and Floyd. Payton has always been a guy who needs a high comfort level with his receivers. Thomas will be big later this season, but I expect some growing pains these first couple weeks and missed hook-ups.

Forgot to ask my question. Richardson now for 15-20 runs, or wait for the Lynch/Turbin late game and risk picking a guy who many only get 3 touches?

Am I an idiot to start Danny Amendola over Lance Moore? Amendola is the Rams only real receiver and I’m thinking Bradford will be throwing a lot.

In a PPR league, I’d definitely start Amendola over Moore, and likely in a standard league too. I’d worry about Amendola being the only receiving threat for the Rams and getting all the attention, but the Lions secondary doesn’t look very good at all. I think Moore has a higher upside, but Amendola is more of a sure thing.
