2012 Fantasy Football - general discussion

I wouldn’t disagree that he’s an upgrade from Benson at this point in their respective careers.

Mild fantasy query for this week: Antonio Brown vs the Jets or Lance Moore vs Carolina? Non-PPR league.

I think Brown is the better receiver, but I’m concerned whether he’s going to be enjoying the attentions of Revis Island. Also, with Henderson held out of practice yesterday, I’m wondering whether Moore will continue to get the high number of looks he enjoyed vs the Skins? Julio Jones is my other receiver, so at least that’s easy.

I’m starting Moore in a PPR league. He’s normally the Saints #3 WR, and with Henderson having a concussion, Moore likely becomes the #2. He’s going to get his share of targets.

I’m pondering Mark Ingram vs Boldin for my flex guy this week. The Saints just refuse to commit to the run, but if they blow out Carolina, Ingram may pile up some points in garbage time. Boldin had a decent game last week, and Baltimore seems to be more pass oriented this year…

I have zero faith in Mark Ingram to get anything done on any given Sunday. On the other hand, I think Boldin is a good quality flex option.

Not a chance - it’ll be Thomas for the ground game in a blow out. And never commit a player to the flex spot based on what you think garbage time is going to produce.

Pretty sure I’m going to take your and NAF1138’s advice on this one. I have a strong tendency toward excessive homerism that does not translate into good things for my fantasy teams. Trying to fix that this year.

Maybe drafting both Ingram and Moore wasn’t the best idea to break that habit, eh? I know how attached you are to the Saints - I’d seriously consider trading both of them away (even at a loss), because just having them on your roster is going to lead to you making terrible decisions about them.

Got a new problem. Just saw Steve Smith is listed as questionable (knee) against the Saints this week. If he doesn’t go, I can move Boldin into Smith’s WR spot, but then have to come up with a replacement Flex out of Ingram and Tate. I’ve also got Collie and Keller, but Collie is doubtful and Keller is out, so neither is an option.

I own Collie in the Big League here. I could’ve sworn I saw a report listing him as Out, but Rotoworld just has him as doubtful. I’ve benched him, FWIW, and am not thrilled about having to do so. I also have Mendenhall, and am at the point of thinking he gets back into the game before Collie does.

As far as Ingram v. Tate: gah. Per rotoworld, Ingram played on 9, yep, 9 out of 75 plays vs. the Skins. True, they account that to Ingram being a "red-zone back and “clock killer”; neither of which was really applicable in Week 1, but jeez, 9 total plays? You’d think the Saints would fare better against the Panthers, and probably will have a lead for Ingram to protect, but what if they don’t?

Tate had 5 rushes, 3 catches. And Arian Foster appears to have shaken off whatever caused him to leave practice early Wed. He’ll probably have much the same workload as in Week 1, i.e., not much.

Both strike me as not very good options this week, but if pressed, I’d go with Ingram.

Yeah, I’m hoping Smith is able to go so I don’t have to play anyone else, but if I have to sit him, I’ll go with Ingram from the choices I have available.

Quick lineup question: D. Murray against Seattle or Green-Ellis against Cleveland? BGE is on my bench but I have a gut feeling he’s a better match up today.

FWIW, 3 of the 4 ESPN fantasy guys disagree, and the 4th has them essentially equal.

OTOH, Footballoutsiders has Seattle as the 4th rushing defense by DVOA, and Cleveland the 19th. This is only on 1 week’s worth of data, mind. Seattle at home is awfully tough. The year before, Seattle was 12th and Cleveland 26th.

Finally, Yahoo’s projections (I know, I know; stop laughing.) have BJGE going for 88 and 1 TD, with Murray 83 and 0.4, with 3 receptions/22 to BJGE’s .6 for 5.7. Depending on your settings, it sounds like BJGE’s your guy.

Tough decision. I think Murray’s the better back in a vacuum, but I might go with BJGE here, mainly because I don’t have much faith in Cleveland’s rush D.

That’s the way I’m leaning too.

Murray is a must-start. You drafted him in the first or second round for a reason.

Not looking good for me. I’ve got 2 WR, 2 RB, my team D, and my TE going in the early games today. Only 41 fantasy points at halftime, and only one TD.

Guess you didn’t go with Tate? Friggin’ Kubiak learned at the feet of Shanahan.

I also didn’t expect Tom Brady and Co. to have this much trouble with the mighty Arizona defense.

Looking like one of those days.

Tate is handcuff-vulturing me…

Tate is on my bench in the Dynasty league… after I started him in Week 1. :frowning:

Neither wound up doing anything, but I went with BJGE and he had a slightly better day. Thankfully their combined ineptitude doesn’t look like it will affect me, as I have a pretty good lead going into the Sun/Mon night games.

I need about 38 points out of Payton Manning and the Atlanta kicker tomorrow to pull out a win this week. That’s doable, but an uphill battle…
