2012 Fantasy Football - general discussion

I was down by one point going into last night’s game. One. My opponent was done and I had Julio Jones. No sweat, thought I. Julio’s a stud. Well, the dude got 4 catches for 14 yds. Enough for… 1.5 points. Whew.

Even after his epic performance last Sunday, I’m a little concerned about playing Eli tonight. No Nicks or Hixon for Eli means the Panthers can double Cruz and hope for the best. My other option Is Rivers at home against Atlanta. What say you?

My league is a 2 QB league, and my two regular starters are Rivers and Manning the Elder. Rivers has put up decent numbers so far, and I think Atlanta has some injury issues in their secondary…

Do you think Eli will struggle tonight?

Screw it… in Eli I trust!

Matthew Stafford or Matt Ryan?

I’m a newbie player but my team’s gone 2-0 so far in my ten-man league. Now I’m facing off against a team that I’m only barely projected to beat and I’m facing a dilemma: Matthew Stafford or Matt Ryan? I’ve got both on my team. Matthew Stafford has been my starter since the beginning and he hasn’t done nearly as well as he’s been projected to and Matt Ryan, meanwhile, has been absolutely rocking the shit out of every team he plays, currently ranked as the #2 QB in my league (Stafford’s 14th!). People are saying that this Sunday against the Titans is going to be Stafford’s chance to shine but it all seems like so much bullshit and I’m considering switching off to Ryan.

Both Ryan and Stafford are playing this Sunday so I’ve got today and tomorrow to decide who to start. HALP.

Go with Ryan. That offense is clicking right now. It could be a shootout with San Diego.

Peyton Manning or Alex Smith? Think I’m going to bench Manning in favor of Smith. Yahoo claims Smith should put up good numbers against the Vikings, while Peyton is facing a tough Houston defense. Of course, me making this move probably guarantees Smith will get carted off on the first series while Peyton throws for 1,000 yards and 27 TD and rushes for another 3 TD.

Lance Moore, Mark Ingram, Anquan Boldin, Ben Tate…I can start any two. Homer that I am, I’ve got Moore and Ingram in there at the moment. Whichever two I bench are probably going to have career days…

Help please.

Jay Cutler or Peyton Manning. Who should I start this week?

Brandon Marshall, Danny Amendola and Vincent Jackson. Pick 2.

Forgot to update roster this week so scrambling to set it in the next hour or two.

Tough call, but I like Ryan a bit better. While the Titans have allowed 5 passing td’s to San Diego’s two, I think that it is much more likely that the Chargers and Falcons get in a shootout than the Titans and Lions. I think the Lions jump out to a big lead and maybe stop throwing the ball and work on their running game more, while the Chargers should be able to keep up with the Falcons and keep the game close.

If you’re going by prior stats this year, it’s Ryan.
If you’re going by matchups, it’s Stafford.

So it’s a tough call. To me, the tiebreaker would be how you think each game will be played. For that, and because he’s the hot hand, I’d go with Ryan.

Who would have ever guessed this would actualy be an issue? It’s another tough call, because the Texans are a very good defense and have only allowed one TD pass in two games. But remember, that was against the Dolphins and the Jaguars, two teams with possibly the worst starting QB’s in the league. The Vikings pass defense is pretty bad, but the 49ers are still a running team and Smith isn’t going to create as many opportunities as Manning should take.

Manning, this week, has the potential to score higher, but also the potential to score lower. If you think your matchup requires a big score from your QB, I’d go with Manning, but if you’d rather get solid points without the upside, go with Smith.

Yuck. I like Moore if Colston’s foot injury keeps him out, but I don’t like Boldin at all, so likely Moore. Ingram sucks rocks and needs TD’s to have any value, but Tate is facing a pretty good defense. I don’t like those pickings. I’d likely end up going with Tate and Moore.

I’d go with Cutler. He’s coming off a long rest and has a favorable matchup. Manning is on a short week, and I won’t forget those interceptions.

Another tough call. Pick the guy you like to root for.

Is it a PPR, because if not, I think Marshall and VJ are the obvious choices for their high upside. If it’s .5 ppr or full ppr, I’d dump VJ and put in Amendola.

One thing to consider is whether you want to double down on the Bears passing game. Maybe if you want to start Marshall, you go with Peyton at QB so that if Cutler sucks again, you won’t be down two spots. Just an idea.

Bah, I talked up Matt Ryan all preseason as a fantasy asset, but I only had the chance to land him in 2 leagues. I ended up with Aaron Rodgers in 3 leagues, though, so it’s not like I’m scraping by at the QB position. But it’s been funny how everyone expected Jones/White/Gonzo/etc to get all these catches, but apparently didn’t figure out that Matt Ryan would also be a big scorer on account of throwing to all of them.

Not sure of the Cardinals’ D is that good or the Eagles that inept, but that was a good pick up this week!

The Cardinals Defense is vastly underrated IMO. One of the better Ds in the league but not helped out at all by the offense.

Of course, Peyton had a big day while sitting on my bench, outscoring Smith and Rivers combined. :frowning:

My league requires 3 WR to start. My WR2 (Mike Wallace) is on a BYE this week. My other starters are Julio Jones and Dwayne Bowe. Due to some roster maneuvering, my only bench WR at the moment is Alshon Jeffery who I drafted late as a deep sleeper. Do I start him on Monday and hope for some points, or do I pick up one of these waiver options: Andrew Hawkins, Cecil Shorts, Nate Burleson, Andre Roberts, Golden Tate or Brandon Gibson?

Unless it’s a PPR league, I’d just roll the dice on Jeffrey.

No PPR. Thanks.
