Stupid Stupid Harvard
A-a-a-a-nd…I’m done.
Note to self, never pick chalk in the west ever again.
Note to next years competition, picking chalk in the west is a sure thing. You should do that.
Fortunately I still have Arizona alive, but other than that, my west bracket is done. DONE!
(I do have AZ going to the final four, which is my (only) saving grace in that bracket.)
May we all have a moment of silence for my poor dead Bracket, Taken from us when it was far too young. So fresh-faced and full of promise and now it is gone taken from us by the heartless bastards at Harvard and Florida gulf coast(which has got to be an alias, I’m sure it was someone else) before it barely felt it’s first heartbeat.
Yeah, I had New Mexico in the Final 4. Sigh. Maybe Ole Miss can salvage my West region.
I did have Florida Gulf Coast, though.
I’ve lost 3 Sweet 16’s and 2 Elite Eights, but despite my depleted West bracket (Go Arizona!), I’m probably not totally out of it.
Well… possibly.
Lost:
4 Seet 16s
2 Elite 8s
1 FF
Hopefully Wichita can SHOCK the Bulldogs of Gonzaga to wreck what is left of the West region because my West Bracket is decimated. But I do have Ohio St to win the region. But that is my only team left.
I do like Florida Golf Club beating G-Town even though I had G-Town to get to Elite 8 (losing to Florida) Any one know what the initiation is for Florida Golf Club and the monthly dues? I have been thinking about moving to Florida when I retire and I will want a nice Golf and Country Club.
This might be my favorite weekend in Sports!
I have more wrong in my West region than the rest of my bracket combined! (My Midwest is perfect) Lost 2 each in the South and East.
If Ohio St. loses this weekend, I’ll have nothing left out West.
Bwahahahaahaha

My Schadenfreude is quickly served on a silver platter.
I always work on the theory that you need at least one or two 11-14 seeds that will shock the world and get to the sweet sixteen round. This year I picked Davidson & Belmont to play Cinderella (so close with Davidson, dammit). I almost pulled the trigger on FGCU…
I’m down the list on current standings, but I still have 7 of my elite eight alive and all of my final four. Keep hope alive.
zoog alludes to an interesting question: Who is still mathematically alive to win the pool?
With Memphis’s loss, I finally lost a game in the Midwest. And if I lose Kansas and Ohio St. I’ll be out of those regions.
Louisville is really good.
Colorado State is shooting 56% from the field, 60% from three, and they’re getting run out of the gym.
Louisville’s defense is incredible.
Normally you can see the points remaining for each bracket in the standings, but because I added the “upset bonus” to the scoring it doesn’t calculate or show points remaining. Which does make it difficult to figure out who’s still alive without looking at each individual bracket. Maybe that’s a good reason not to do the upset bonus next year.
ETA: Maybe after the weekend is over I’ll run some numbers and post some stats for the group.
Butler ran some BRUTAL inbounding offense at the end of that game!
Well, it took three halves of basketball, but the Kansas Jayhawks I’ve been waiting to see finally showed up to play. Nice game - way to shut down UNC in the second half. Rock Chalk!
Remaining:
11 of 16
7 of 8
4 of 4
I’ve had worst years, by far. Currently ranked 7th in the group (tied with 2 others), just 4 points behind the leader (shakes fist at Knorf.)
Hell, I’ve been out of it - didn’t even know that some games were still being played (or still to be played.) I’m such a dumbass.
