Well all, I semi-abandoned this thread after Georgia wet the bed at South Carolina, but I’m back! Here we are with a showdown with Mizzou! After they treat us like Indiana treated them, I can go back to sulking. Anyways, my games I’m excited for this weekend…
Auburn v Miss State - almost the same style of team. This should be fun. Which means it will be another 3-2 snoozer. I’ll be pulling for the other Bulldogs here and their infernal cowbells!
Ole Miss v A&M - last weekend sure made the Mississippi schools interesting didn’t it? I think Ole Miss has a letdown here.
LSU v Florida - two powerhouse programs at the bottom of the barrel. Who knows what will happen?
USC v Arizona - why is USC favored in this game? Arizona is ranked somewhere around #10! This is bizarre to me. The branding and groupthink in college football is so strong.
TCU v Baylor - this should be a blast. 2 high-powered offenses. TCU’s reliable defense and their confidence after knocking off Oklahoma? This is exciting.
Oregon v UCLA - both coming off losses. I’ve seen this one described as a knockout game. I can’t disagree. I have a hard time seeing the loser making the playoffs.
I think you might have answered your query with your Ole Miss vs TAMU analysis. A letdown.
Ga Tech (5-0 woot woot) vs Duke (4-1) this weekend. It looks like ESPN3 is the only national coverage for this game, which I find unusual for two teams with a 9-1 combined record. Last time was on ESPN3 it was blacked out in my area.
You’re probably right about the letdown. Just seems weird. It’s in Tucson and USC is unranked and favored.
I almost included that Duke - GT game. Stupid Duke had to lose to stupid Miami and take the shine off it. I like Duke, but I want GT to keep winning so they are undefeated for the Georgia game. That way when we beat Tech their tears will taste that much sweeter!
Eta: when I say “like” I mean I don’t hate them. Not that I expect them to win.
Yes, I guess I could spoof my IP address and get the game, but that would not be kosher. :dubious:
The black out game was the Ga Southern game and I live nearly 500 miles from Atlanta (Statesboro is further) so I have no idea why the game was a blackout here.
Meanwhile, Todd Gurley has been indefinitely suspended for NCAA violations. I already picked Mizzou this week in Oak’s college pick’m game.
At this stage I’m going out on a limb to say that betting on which team will be representative of the SECW at Championship time is a fool’s bet. Not so much for SECE but still nowhere close to a shoo-in.
All I can add is that if an SEC team is not in the playoff, then the entire concept is flawed!
It may have been some other conference in the past, and may be another in the future, but right now the SEC owns College Football!
TAMU, LSU, Auburn (2 of 3) beat Ole Miss (two+ losses for Ole Miss)
Ole Miss and Bama beats MSU (two losses for MSU)
Bama beats Auburn (Two losses for Auburn)
SEC West Rep has 2 losses
SEC East Rep (UGA, USCe, UF) has 3 losses (Including a loss against OoC rival (GTech, Clemson, FSU) and wins the SEC Championship.

I was saying during the whole “Lets get of the BCS” debate, that a 4 team playoff is not going to be an end of the arguments. (neither will an 8 team playoff)
IMO, they should have kept the BCS system. A two team playoff is still a playoff.
